stuck between a grip and a sage

Just to let you know you will have to sharpen the mini grip mine came dull out o the box. I own both and like them the sage is a better looking knife and also the CF looks greate and the pocket clip in my opinion is the best the mini is also a sweet knife but it's not IMO in the same league that's more like a delica then you will defenetly go with Benchmade.

I like the Sage, but I haven't carried it except as a non-user gentleman's knife for dressy occasions. I would use the grip. I have a Lg & H2O. The grips also come in sheeple friendly colors for work. The Grips will be around for a long time to come. I don't know about the carbon fiber and titanium Sages? I would get one of those first.

I vote sage.
-S30V>154CM
-Textured CF scale>FRN scales
-Awesome Choil>No choil
-Lowriding Wire Pocketclip>split arrow clip
-Full four finger grip>three fringer grip

People will say the axis lock is better than the liner lock, but that won't really matter unless you plan on battening wood with the knife. The springs in the axis lock are notorious for breaking, which means you have to send it back to BM to have it replaced(warranty voided if you take apart the knife).

Personally I prefer a liner/frame lock over an axis style lock anyway.

You forgot to add spyder hole>thumb studs.

I have both and they are both great knives. As stated earlier the steel in the sage 1 is a little better than the mini-grip but in my opinion the mini-grip feels better in hand. Its a tough choice b/c they are both awesome knives.

I did! :D

This is awesome. Did you make them or did you buy them somewhere?

I vote mini grip. I've own both and I'd have to say I like the weight on mini over the sage. The sage may have better steel but the mini is the way to go in my opinion.

Does he have a website or contact info?

Yup, just Google cuscadi and you'll find it right away. The site is in German though so unless you know German your best bet is to click the "kontact" link in the upper right. I can also speak for Luke's professionalism. He responds to emails very quickly and goes out of his way to make sure you get exactly what you want. I went with bead blasted, contoured carbon fiber micarta with a glow in the dark blue back spacer. They ran me 85 euros (about $107) shipped.

I'm usually not one to copy others, but that is beautiful. Order will be placed asap. Thanks for sharing.

That grip with CF is awsome! the reason that i was looking at the grip is that it is under 3" and that i can get a "friendly" color. I owned a delica and would again in a heart beat but wanted to try out benchmade. I am leaning toword the sage but i'll let yall now what goes down

Personally.. I'll take Spyderco over BM any day. I feel like you get more bang for your buck with the spydies

You'll need to decide on a backspacer as that is limitless too. I chose a matching carbon fiber "Cogwheel". It looks nice and is grippy as heck. A lot of folks like the glow in the dark spacers.

never handled a mini grip but the sage is a nice knife the only problem i have with it is i feel forced to use the choil wich im not a huge fan of ... i know im not forced but its just the way the way it was designed i guess but its a great knife

I Like The Grip And The Sage.
I Prefer The Large Griptilian Over The Sage.
If I Were To Get A Mini-Griptilian I Would Have To Get The 555 With The Round Hole And Sheepsfoot Blade. It's Awesome For Use And You Can Get It Really Sharp.

If I Were To Choose Between The Mini-Grippie And The Sage... I Would Have To Go Sage. Just Because The Fit And Finish And Ergos Are Awesome, I Have Really Large Hands And It Fits Like A Glove. The Materials Are Also Better. And The Low Ride Clip Is Great, And The Wire Clip Looks Good And Actually Feels Awesome In The Hand.

But The Cool Thing About The Grip Is The Different Color Choices.

Have You Thought About Making Your Own Griptilian On Benchmades Website? You Can Choose Your Colors, Steel, Clip, Coating Or None, Engrave It And Everything. So That Is Pretty Awesome.

So If You Want Something With Excellent Materials And Great Fit And Finish That Would Make A Great EDC - Get A Sage.
If You Want A Knife With Good Materials And To Beat The Hell Out Of - Get A Grip.

I am surprised to be the only one that mentioned the price difference. The regular mini-grip is about $65, and the Sage 1 is about $95. Thats almost a 50% price difference. Unfortunately, BM doesnt really have any knives that fall into that price range. They all seem to be $65-$80, or $120+. Do you have a special deal that would make the Sage 1 cheaper? What would you use the money saved on a mini-grip for? Don't forget to weight those factors.

Check out the mini Bone Collector. You get the hole, AXIS lock and D2 Steel plus great, sculpted G10 handles. I have the large, it's a sweet knife.

Had a lg walnut wood one. It was the smoothest most secure feeling axis i have ever owned but in the end the handles were just too wide for me and i traded it away.
Go with the sage!
