Don't know if you all are interested in this kind of stuff but I'm always looking for new outlets for vitamins and herbal products. I found them while looking for stuff to make a natural/organic, so to speak, first aid kit. They got every thing and so far everything I've gotten from them is top notch stuff. So check them out and let me know what you think.

You need to be a little careful with some of these "natural" substances and remedies.

Many are just fine, some can be downright dangerous. Some have failed every objective test they have been subjected to, (homeopathy for example), some do nothing or are not necessary and a few can kill you if taken in combination with some other drugs or if you have certain health conditions or allergies.

I'm not saying you shouldn't use something if you think it works for you, but don't just blindly buy something because it sounds good in the advertising. Be especially aware of wild claims or pseudo scientific claptrap in the descriptions.

Tea tree oil is fine, I use it myself occasionally. :)

OK Dad... ;)
So what you are saying is using this natural chunk of uranium to kill ticks on my wee wee is not good? At least they don't get in my hair anymore since it all fell out....

Adolf's Meat Tenderizer made into a paste with a bit of spit works wonders on ant bites and reduces the pain of scorpion stings if applied soon after. Breaks down the enzyme of the sting-juice. Haven't tried it on bee or wasp stings.

Stick to the regular stuff, like penicillin, bandages, Off, motrin, tylenol etc. Your relying on that wart of chickens foot for a concussion that you bought at GNC etc might not be the answer when you're stranded somewhere and need those good old, pharmaceutical empire made drugs.

Actually I use mind control. A positive aware mental state can prevent accidents.
Combined with my common hike accouterments (knives, firekits, proper clothing, com equip:cell phone & 5 mile walkie-talkie, water and filter straw, plus incidentals) I have never required more than a Excedrin Migrane. Most common first aid fixes are easily constructed from at-hand items: splints, bandage, crutches and such. Not to say that I will never need to give myself an appendectomy or trailside tracheotomy and have bandaged and touniquetted myself in a major way once. I haven't had an infection in a wound for over 25 years. I just let the minor ones bleed anymore.
I don't extreme hike with anyone else often, so I don't have to worry about my companions. Besides they carry their own stuff according to their percieved needs.
I rarely carry anything with me that could be pointed to as specifically "first aid" supplies.
Obviously another problem is most people have no clue what alternative medicine is about beyond what they hear on late night talk show monologues or the misconceptions perpetrated by mainsteam medics and their minions in the pharmiceutical industry.

Being able to get through a bad situation calmly and mentally intact and aware is the best tool to carry with you, I agree.

Merek,

I am all for natural remedies that work.

Last time I checked however modern medicine has increased a humans lifespan by 20 years in the past century.

Lets hope the minion medics don't read this when pumping your chest and shooting you with adrenaline to start your heart after a car accident has all but killed you or a loved one.

I guess that polio and other vaccines you got as a child were hokus pokus huh?

How dare those diabetics shoot insulin into their bodies daily when they could be dancing around a fire eating termites with holes drilled in their heads and chanting to the sugar god.

Does modern medicine make mistakes? Sure
Is medicine a politically motivated business? Sure

Small price to pay for living in an era where middle age is not 18 yrs old. ;)

Its funny people like you with your attitude are the first to call for a medic when injured or the best cancer specialist when afflicted huh.

Herbs only go so far, the rest is due to science, research and money.

Be happy there are people out there smarter than you willing to put in the time, effort and money to ensure you are healthy enough to spew your missinformed opinions over the net.

Chill out dude. You're getting spit all over your monitor. Go have a carrot juice and pray you never become like me.

Sorry to butt in with the love fest, fellas.

I would just like to interject that I usually don't attempt to reinvent the wheel that has turned in my lifetime.

Tea will calm my nerves and help me think clearly.

Ibuprofen will reduce pain and swelling.

I carry aspirin to have handy for stroke or heart attack.

There can be value in both traditional and non traditional treatment of various ailments. Just know what works. Then don't screw with it.

It's really quite simple, just keep always from the doctors, their drugs kill you, look at the stats. How can one argue with what really works when one has experienced it. This is the book that the doctors do not what you to read or use.

The Miracle of Fasting: Proven Throughout
History for Physical, Mental and Spiritual
Rejuvination
by Paul Chappuis Bragg, Paul C. Bragg, Patricia
Bragg

Paul C Bragg has a N.D and a Ph.D

Let me put it like this, if you think you are a man then go on distilled water and nothing else for a week and see what happens. I know, I follow the Bragg way and my friends that do are still running around with, and tiring out the younger generation, and we are over 50.

Go ahead and look

I will have to say this, if you do not look at what Paul C, Bragg did by reading his books
and practice the natural way of health, then you have no grounds to judge what I know as my life. The friends that I have made during my life, they know because we all enjoy great health without any disease. No flu's or cold's for over 40 years for me, my body is strong from the tempering of fasting. That's right just like you tempering steel with fire you can temper yourself with pure water and nature. Hell read the bible it is all in there too, look who fasted and what they did, and they had no junk food to poison themselves with! They lived more natual.

I carry ti tree oil as a general antiseptic in my base camp (non carry) FAK.

LMAO!!

I have never had the flu in my life, go years between colds and outside of self inflicted injuries never been ill either other than a case of salmonella. I drink and smoke occasionaly too.
How do explain my health?

While I am a fan of natural remedies that work call me when you are 110 and still running around then I may listen.

Its funny realy 100% of all medical tree huggers I know go back to main stream medicine when TSHTF, its comical actually.

Until then you are a nut in my book.

Got to go I have a rare steak waiting mmm.

I'd rather put my life in the hands of a man or woman who has gone through 8 to ten years of medical school, that is using medicine designed by legions of pharmaceutical researchers, than place my life in the hands of someone who wrote a book. Just my thoughts.

While I am more than happy to put my faith in the capable hands of a medical professional, some of the recent drug recalls make me a little less comfortable with trusting all of the legions of pharmasutical distributors. I know that the researchers do their best to create quality and safe products. The management is much more concerned with the profitability of their company however and recently has been pushing drugs into the market that have not been tested quite as completely as they should have been, or lack of QC makes trouble.

QC:

COX-2 based drugs may cause heart attacks:

PS this whole thing has gotten WAY WAY OFF TOPIC!!!

so a lil BTTT:

So, some remedies I am a fan of:
Ti tree oil: great antiseptic, kills most everything even some fungals
Willow bark tea: same "drug" as aspirin, getting a nice hot drink to can also help with those nasty headaches
Ibuprofin 800mg's: These do good things for my bad knees, and most anything else....
A nice warm whiskey and water with honey does wonders for a sore throat too, and 5 or 6 will make most any aches and pains feel better... LOL

Well, I have to make a confession, I do have a book of old home remedies, but I only use that for small maladies, not life threatening stuff.
