Stumbled upon a Geocache!

There are Underwater Geocache stashes... good way to ruin your GPS devices. LOL

I've worn North Face apparel on duty but never made it to Iraq. I wasn't stereotyping, that's just 99% of the people that are into geocaching around here, I just love to hate on yuppies ;)

That "99% of the people" is total BS my friend......:thumbdn:

Precisely. Grab the retracting dog leash, the yellow lab, your kelty kid pack, your two year old and your wife, while wearing as much money in North Face apparel as humanly possible. Don't forget the Nalgene brand and SIGG water bottles and your Canon S1200 point and shoot, and your Garmin Venture that you have no idea how to use, and find random capsules placed just about everywhere on the face of the planet filled with little trinkets that act as a reminder of your adventure. Take something, put something back, leave a note to make the next yuppie feel warm and fuzzy so that their North Face outfit wasn't wasted money.

I agree that whatever gets people off the couch is a good thing, however I ran into the above one day last fall while out hunting mushrooms. They were pretty much as above, real nice people and all. They're kids were named Dylan and Ithan and after leaving I saw them get into one of those huuge volvo suv wagons. Their dog had one of those rolled leather $180 coach leashes and they had a grand worth of D & G sunglasses between them. My first thought was must be a pretty fortunate family, god has surely blessed them, then I thought what are they doing in my woods, then I thought mmm they look pretty healthy and toned , kinda free-range-gym-trained-antioxidant-packed I bet they taste good, lets see this family would include two oven stuffer roasters and two petit filet.

I'm big into geocaching. Kalooch135 on Geocaching.com. Look me up. :)

geocaching is fun...
i joined a while back and found two altoid boxes :D

I need to look for more stuff :D

I love caching, I have found a few thousand in the last couple years. Is that cache site right on the trail? is it on a trail not used very often?

Baw this is turning into a PR hate thread. I was supposed to be camping this week, was all packed and ready to go Sunday night to hit Boise National Forrest but wound up spending most of the week imobilized due to a right knee that wouldn't support my body weight much less a pack, so yeah, I might be a crabass right now, but I guess you just have to live around here to understand. They are loud, scare all the animals away, condescend to the people who are actually bushcrafting, don't follow any sort of trail protocol and do a great job succeeding at bringing negative parts of society to the backcountry. I get away to get away, not to see the same noisy people I tried to get away from ruining all my chances at animal photography and packing half their kitchen and an inflatable sofa....

Sounds to me like you need to get a bit more off the beaten path, if you're running into that many of them!! I'm not going to dog anybody for getting in the woods, be it geocaching, bird watching, plant collecting or any other host of other activities that I myself do not engage in. I say good for them, getting out of the mall or Starbucks. The way I see it, the more folks that utilize and care about public woodlands, the more areas stay open for public use, i.e. me.

Yep, right on a well-used trail. Judging by the location, visibility, and contents, I'd call this cache very kid-friendly. Get kids excited about the outdoors? Absolutely! :)

I LIVE off the beaten path, and my state has the most public land per capita than any other state except for Alaska. Idaho makes Colorado look like New York City. We also have the most millionares per capita and it's amazing how fast all the deer, foxes, owls and other raptors, elk, bears, lions etc will flee a 15 mile radius around the sound or smell of an abnoxious dog and/or people. Don't get me started on HORSES...

That's assuming I'm actually keen enough and have the resources to put it there in the first place :D

Gee the mob "cached" peepils in da lake with a cinder block.

If you like rent the movie "Splinter Heads" the main chick has the hobby of geocaching.

funny movie, not that much geocache stuff, but you may get the idea.
