???stumped my self again???

Aren't those commercial freezers required by law or O.S.H.A. to have an inside handle or latch for just such a case? I could be wrong, but that seems like a accident & law suit waiting to happen. Or did something happen to the kid & he was physically unable to open the door?

Unless it was an old or home made freezer than there hasta be a way to get out.

Here is a pdf file for the type of frezzer locks/latches found on walk-in freezers in comercial facilities.

I would kill a bear with a 2.5" solid oak door and slice his belly open and take a nap in there. When I woke up I would use his ribs and some sinew to fashion a bowdrill and start a fire on the oak door just to warm up some more. Then I would cook the bear's heart over the fire and eat it. When I felt nourished enough, I would then rip the freezer door off the hinges as I would not want to be bothered dismantling the vacuum cleaner that would be there to use the beater bar to drive the hinge pins out. But that's just me.

i am not sure the exact details on that but your are probably right about osha but if were honest most people who work under osha neglect it every now and again.

its not something you can neglect every now and again...or lock someone in accedently or on purpose. look at yours at work, on the inside there is a thing you can turn so this kinda thing doesnt happen. you can lock it so people can't get in from the outside, but you can not lock someone inside it. Just isn't possible.

1 of 2 things happened. the story is complete BS, or the person locked in was a moron.

Exactly, I've worked on and around commercial walk in freezers since the mid 70s and ya can't accidently get locked in, some one would have to wrap the walk in with a chain or pile a lot of heavy stuff in front of the door to block it or prevent it from openin'..

I got locked in a bathroom once, kind of a crappy deal, with two 2.5 inch thick oak doors. I was in there a good four hours. At first I tried taking a nap in the tub til someone came, but when you're locked in a small bathroom it's kinda hard to relax. After turning the fan on for some circulation, I took apart the vacuum and used the roller to pound off the hinges on the door, which in turn allowed me to shift the door far enough to the side to reach the bolt and flip it. Instead of starting a fire by any means possible, since most freezers tend to coat everything with frozen condensation and it'd be damn near impossible to start anyway, I'd do anything and everything necessary to get the freezer door off, escape through a vent, anything.

This should have been about the time you said "wow finally someone came in. Could you please hold the door open so I don't have to sit in here for another 3 hrs and 45 minutes?"

The walk-in cooler in our lab has handle on the outside and a fixed latch on the frame. The fixed latch is held on by a bolt that goes all the way through the frame to a knob on the inside. If for some reason the latch on the inside didn't open the door, you could unscrew that bolt and just push the door open b/c there wouldn't be anything to hold it closed.

Ironically, there is an alarm that will go off if the door is left open, but no alarm to pull if you get locked in.

Speaking of being locked in bathrooms...a guy I know once locked his girlfriend in the bathroom during a fight, so she turned on the shower full blast and pointed it at the door. He opened it up once his room started to flood.

Well, I'm happy somebody got the reference.

At least the leg grew back. It was a miracle, I tell you!

Are you sure you're not some sort of human/lizard hybrid cooked up in some alien breeding experiment?? :D I was used in similar experiments but nothing came of them...;)
