That got your attention, eh? Wondering the original meaning of "Steel Heart?" Other than the knife has a heart of steel? This design was my first Busse, and it has indeed captured my heart. And since I own two of them (with more to follow, I'm sure) - I would like to know the name origin.

Thanks in advance - with all my heart...Cheers.

The very first Busse ads I ever saw, back in the early 90's, were built around a "You'll never have a broken heart" theme, playing on the idea of a rejected suitor. I don't know the answer to your question, but I suppose it might have been named for the purpose of the ads.

Tiger Face, Steel Heart

The log is burning, we have berries for supper
The road has been long, a shipwreck we had
In the ocean of sharks we swam
Hot sun and hailstorms, all we had to bear

Here in the wild, wild animals make neighbors,
With a jewel stare, the moon is gazing from the sky,
Let us make more fire, I'm told, the wild fear fire
My pearl, your face is a tiger, my heart is steel.

At break
Of dawn,
So near
Is the destination,
we'll make and merry.

Charles Jagongo Ogola

My first Busse was a Steel Heart E. Nifty story, and I really miss that one. No regrets my hiney! :p

Interesting question. I am gonna have to look into this. Guess I never thought about it but now I am curious as well.

Garth

Thanks folks. I just like to know this stuff!...Also found "Tiger Face, Steel Heart", but could not locate publication date. Would certainly have to pre-date the first Busse Steel Hearts...Cheers.

Call me cheesy but I do miss that kind of music now and then.

I miss the late 1960's - early 1970's. "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"...Cheers.

What a deal! $187.00...

I thought I once heard that it was from the phrase "Steel My Soldiers' Hearts". I know that's a book by David Hackworth, about the "Hopeless to Hardcore Transformation" of a unit he commanded; but is the phrase an older one, regarding the making of a good soldier?

It sounds nice; but I think the "you'll never break a Heart made of steel" idea from the actual ad is probably a more likely source. Not sure where I heard the soldier one....on one of the forums, though.

Okay, I was wrong on the poem, it is from one of Shakespeare's Plays. (Battle Mistress is from a play)

Here is a list of questions from an old contest on this forum. Unfortunately I don't have the answers.

It's from Henry V:

KING HENRY
O God of battles, steel my soldiers' hearts.
Possess them not with fear. Take from them now
The sense of reck'ning ere th' opposèd numbers
Pluck their hearts from them.

Col Hackworth interferred in my initial Google search!

You know, I met him when I was a Protocol Officer at Fort Ord, when he returned to the states from Australia. Interesting person.
