Here's the deal for me. I am not ashamed at being white and I am not ashamed of other folks not being white. By the same token I am not going to judge you based on your ethnicity, creed, or religion and gender. I don't apologize for who I am either. I like to think I fall somewhere in the middle of these views. I wait and see how a person conducts himself/herself before I make a judgement.
Now an observation if I might. Some may like it and some may not. I belive that there as many people of color who don't like me for being white as there are people who are white who don't like them just because they are of color. As I said I try and judge everyone with an unbiased eye and then make a judgement on the person through their actions.
As long as we are the subject I should also state I am not for affirmative action. A person's job qualifications shouled be based on ones life experience, skills for the job etc. etc. I see how tough it is for my son to get a job when people less qualified because of color get the job over him, and they are less qualified. I saw this when my daughter was applying at colleges too. Some lesser qualified students because of color were awarded better school choices even though not as qualified academically as my daughter. Now did it bug my daughter, nope she figured they got it then they deserved it. Now though that she is completeing her education within a year or so she is having second thoughts about it when she sees what is happening in the job market. But like it or not that's the way it is.
Again I am just tired of apologizing for being white. I like to think that I can keep an open mind on things racially biased or motivated and not get caught up in the race thing. It is a tough one for sure. keepem sharp
