If a Sebenza isn't abused, or subject to heavy duty use. Will it out last the original owner? I had a friend tell me that a Sebenza is something that will 'last forever'. But I never thought of any knife being that capable. Curious to see what people think... besides it being a stupid question. haha

Mine certainly has the feel of something that will last forever. There's also a lifetime warranty on the thing, so if it does somehow get damaged I expect I can get it repaired.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, longevity was my most important criteria when I chose to buy the Sebenza.

if cared for, it should easily outlast our lifetimes. titanium and s30v steel arent likely to disintigrate.

My first knife was a Schrade fixed blade (probably $20 in today's dollars) my dad bought me for cleanin' fish 40 years ago. It's held up in spite of 20+ years of use and abuse, and now occupies a prominent place in my collection. I imagine my oldest grandkid (assuming I get grandkids) will get it. If the Schrade lasts my lifetime, my Sebenza is robust enough to last several lifetimes.

There is nothing in the Sebenza that will deteriorate over anything but geologic time. After years of heavy use you may need to replace the thrust washers but what else can fail; it is all titanium and steel?

Everyday I feel a new ache somewhere in my body. I think my Sebenza looks better everyday.

I was also thinking about this, and since a Sebbie can be quickly and completely disassembled, I figure a worn out blade or handle scale can be independently replaced. In fact, I think CRK ought to sell blades themselves, such as damascus, for Sebbie-Users to swap out via dis/re-assembly...

That isn't possible if you go with another brand.

Similar to how high-end shoes can be resoled if you ever wear through the original soles.

Come to think of it, can you buy Sebbie blades separate from the frame?

I suspect that it will outlast me, but then again... How would I know? I can say (without a doubt) that it has become a lifetime addiction.:D

Sebenza blades are hand fitted to the handle so you can't just buy one and have it shipped to you. You can send the Sebe back to CRKs and have it fitted with a new blade.

depends on how often you sharpen it. but, the knife does look like a classic to be put into a time capsule....

Awesome post. Thanks for the story, much appreciated.

This a question to foldersforever, do you know that you can send a sebby in and get another blade fitted to it, for instance a damascus blade??

I have seen Case and SAK's that have literally been carried for decades. Many had serious blade ware, but the overall knife was still in great shape.
