Stupid things that happen in your shop.

Hey Guys...

Ok,, I got one for you...
Just happened a few nights ago...

Don't try this at home kids!

Was fairly late and as I walked past the bird cage in the house I noticed one of the birds were out.. Oh $hit forgot it in the shop..So out I go to get my little shop buddy who sits on my press and watches me work..

I turn the light on,, and it's not usually where it sits.. Oh no!
Go into the grinding room, turn on the light,,and it's sitting on my grinder,, right on the top of the 10" wheel,, soaking wet!

Well it must have flew in the dark into the grinding room and landed in the pail of water on the floor.. Luckily it climbed out!

Pheew!! close call...

But wait,, thats not the end of it...
I grab a rag,, clean him up and set him back down on the wheel...

Then a light went on in my head...

The grinder is like a Big a$$ed treadmill ,,maybe the bird would like a little walk,,you know like those gerbil wheels they have..

Ok,,so I pick the bird up,,flip the AC drive on,,and dial it into a slow crawl,, like really slow...

Put the bird on the 36 grit belt and put my hand as a stopper..

Ok,,too slow,,he's running up the belt, and jumping up on the guard,,so I juice it up a little more,,and put the bird back on...

He's having a Great time,, got the treadmill thing happening,, then he decides to jump my hand,, and Yup,, you guessed it,, right underneath between the belt, and the housing....Ohhhh Man,, so I grab him by the tail and yank him out before it got to the drive wheel,, where theres a little less room..

For sure it would have been squished and I'd have a big mess to clean up,, and some
explaining to do to my son on why his pure white budgie got killed in my grinder...LMAO..

So now the poor little thing is filthy all black underneath, big skid mark from it's neck to it's tail, and it won't come off, and the bird doesn't like to get scrubbed...

Thankfully no one has noticed,, and I've learned my lesson that pets and power tools don't mix!

Thought you guys might like that...

You would think that most of us would be smart enough not to do this stupid stuff but there it is again. If you haven't done it yet you will. I think it has something to do with steel dust. :D
