Sturdy sub 3" folder

I have had a buck nxt for while now, it hasa good liner lock, very solid, nice size, double hollow grind blade, good steel it takes a good edge and holds it a while. In short I love it. Lost my 1st oneand went and bought another one

How come all the Spyderco fans are choosing the salsa over the dodo? :)

Because it's blade is easier to sharpen than that of the Dodo's. The Salsa also comes in fun colors :p .

For a solid grip and a blade that will prove more and more usefull every day that you use it I say go for the Dodo.

Small blade + big grippy handle makes it usefull and legal.

A small CRK sebenza is excellent. Spyderco dodo is excellent. What I really think is innovative in smaller blade knives recently is the Emerson bull nose and cqc7 karambit variants. Nice 2.75 blades and of corse the Emerson wave for a lightning opening.

I wonder why no one mentioned the Spyderco Delica. It's my EDC for a few years. I have various other knives, but I keep returning to my trusty old Delica :)

I hadn't considered the Buck/Mayo 172. Sounds like an very good alternative. I have two questions. When you hold the knife in a saber grip or a fencing grip, does the cutout end up under the middle finger or in between the index and middle finger? Can you tell what the washers are made of? Thanks for you input, this is one for serious consideration.

I have a med size hand when I hold it a Saber grip, my middle fingure lands in the cutout. Makes for a good grip, I don't like the little horn on the top it doesn't quite hit my tumb right. The washers a teflon. The Buck/Mayo is a great knife well worth the money. It has a great high hollow grind. Only problem for you is that's it's a hair over 3 inches.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember the small Sebenza being a tad over 3 inches, like around 3 1/8" Correct me, if I'm wrong.]

The small Sebbie = Length: 2.875"

I like the Small Sebenza and I liked the bm705 more until I got the Sebbie.

:D

The Spyderco Native (with S30V blade-steel) or the Native III (with VG-10 blade-steel).
Awesome knives!

Good luck,
Allen.

In the "gentleman's knife" category the Lone Wolf Jeff Angelo Fluted Folder fits my hands and my needs well when I don't need the toughness of the Sebenza--and it's just over 1/3 the price.

Benchmade 705 is at the top of my sub-3" strudy knife list. That's why I own 6 of them! A close second, and cheaper, would be a Spyderco Native. A really awesome knife!

Small Sebbie all the way. So far as toughness goes, nothing else in its size comes close. If you're looking for more of a gent's knife, the CRK Mnandi is my favorite.
