Stylish Slipjoint?

The new version of this but may be too thick.

Queen #9 Stockman 4" in D2 in no longer availiable Carved Stagbone.
Availaible in Amber carved stagbone or Maple
Both are very special, but you want bone...so the Amber...
$55 or more

Smaller than the Cattle King
An excellent knife, a real user and looker.

Very good crop of suggestions.I'd second a GEC No.25 single bolster Jack. It's thick, stubby and you get a good grip on the knife plus the Swedged Clip blade is a good thin slice.Looks bonny in Stag. Myself, I steer clear from Buffalo,it CAN shrink back from the bolsters (I have a couple of knives like this) so I prefer bone or stag. Schatt&Morgan Harness Jack is I think within dimensions. Saddlehorn is a pattern you might like to try as well. As for CASE, 12 out of 12 is not a bad ratio in my experience, pick up something in their fast disappearing Bonestag 6.5 and you won't regret that, their small Texas Jack is a totally fine authentic knife too:thumbup: So you could still consider them.

Once you've stocked up on a few Americans don't forget Old World knives either.Böker make a surprisingly decent slip-joint,think about their Copperhead in Grand Canyon Bone and carbon, some of the better jigging around. Nice hefty knife too.Recently got a Böker apaloosa bone stockman from a fellow forumite, some decent bone on that as well, good luck!

Thanks for all the replies you've certainly helped. I really like the look of the GEC's for some reason, they have a certain quality I can't quite put my finger on. Thought for a moment that the #73 would be ok but it has a 3.13" blade and this could get me in trouble. A guy recently was proscecuted for having a blade 1mm over legal length, another for a 1" blade because it had a lock. The anti-knife hysteria here now is unreal. The #25 is the right size but seem to be Barlows and I don't like that long, heavy front bolster.
Love the Case Sway Back Jacks and I'II get at least one. This is a leap of faith as the two Case knives I bought about 5 years ago had really weak back springs and one had a bad scratch on the blade, couldn't believe they made it through quality control. You all seem to say Case is better now, so I'II see.
So many good suggestions and I'II explore them all. Thanks again.

Yes, my moniker is a homage to the mighty Devo.

You might consider the #99 Schatt&Morgan Harness Jack.

It is a beautiful knife and meets all your requirments.

About 100 dollars at Cumberland Knife Works.

Alsdorf make an excellent folder, very precise fit and beautiful finish. I don't think he sells outside the US but they turn up in the sales columns fairly regularly and they are great value.

Shing forgot to add that he himself make a really slick folder.
I have my first (and probably only, if the missus gets her way) custom on order from Shing as we speak.
His customer service is second to none, I visited his home and workshop.
He drew exactly what I was looking for and is making it up for me
Very skilled maker, definitley worth a thought particularly for the UK dweller

Take care
Graham

Jockohomo, not all GEC No.25s are in single bolster Barlow style, they have double bolster Jack knives as well, just a thought:thumbup:
