I'd like to get a small fixed blade 2" (OAL 4-5") or less that could be carried in a pocket with a clipped pouch or small slip case. Could also double as a necker if wanted.

Should be of higher end quality if not custom.

Any suggestions?

Well, the Camillus Mini Talon has a 2.25" blade. A little over the limit, but I couldn't think of many that small.

The Busse Assault Shaker is one heck of a small knife. INFI steel, razor sharp, good kydex neck sheath. Heavy duty 1/4 inch width with a diamond tough coating.

$97 if you buy before friday.

edit- Opps! it's over two inches in blade. Sorry. My guess, your spec is for a legal reason. Nice knife however...

waiting on my allen blade chipmunk right now, 2 in blade, full tang construction, kydex sheath could probably work for pocket carry with a safety pin. it'll probably be a daily carry in places where my large sebenza is less welcome.

I also have heard good things about sean perkins small fb's, they come with a leather sheath with a flat bottom for pocket carry. check out chiro75's review of small fb's:

allen blades website:

hope this helps

Just what the Doctor ordered. Blade is 1 31/32". ATS-34, still needs heat treating.

Maybe just a hair bigger like 2.5 inch blade. Hard to find a better small fb than the Carson small F4. I carry it as a pocket knife, and it is the best sized fb I have seen for this. Over all with sheath it is only 5 3/4 long, and without sheath is 5 1/2 inches. Works great, and you can get it in different steels.

Think about a Perrin La Griffe. Very unique and interesting design, although a chisel grind

Best very small fixed blade knife for self defense IMHO

I'll second the opinion on the A.G. Russell Scalpel. I've had one for years, comes with a push button release hard sheath that can be worn as a neck knife. I wear one clipped to my fishing vest. I've cleaned hundreds of fish with it and can only recall sharpening it once.

A small fixed blade that I find very attractive is the sheepsfoot made by the Danish maker, Jens Anso. You can see these on several websites. For customs, its a pretty cheap model (-$200).

I have one on order. It uses ATS-34 steel, cocobolo for the handle, and a half-tanned leather sheath covered in red/black lizard skin. I should have it by November

yup, lots of good suggestins here. i would also add the fantastic stuff from Running Dog knife co. Mike is a really great guy and will custom make anything you want out of pretty much anything you want at a reasonable cost. do a google search and you will find his site. ask him to custom create something if you like what he has ... also yhe Allen Blade Chipmonk seems great, as does the Camillus Mini Talon (getting some GREAT hype here on the board) i may get a Mini Talon myself ...

Thanks for all of the responses, the reason I want this is for an occasional alternative to a folder carried inside front pocket.

I'm leaning heavily toward the Allen Blade Chipmunk, any suggestions as to where one can be gotten?

Also, does anyone have the link to the running dog knife page? I'd ike to look a little closer at theirs also.

After all this I think I may pick up the Busses Combat Shaker just to have, bigger than what I want but I like neckers too!

I believe Runningdog's site is:

Also, Mr. Clark, what knife is that and where can I invest in one? Any information is appreciated.

Oops...never mind...you said fixed blade not folder.

Its one of my own designs. Its called a scrap of steel and a wild hair

. First thought it would make a great small game skinner (and it would), but I think it would be better suited as a "personal" utility knife. The thumb and forefinger grooves really prevent you from sliding up on the blade.

Planning on making a few in either 420V or BG42, with G10 slabs and vulcanized liners. With Kydex neck rig I'm thinking $115. $135 with both leather belt sheath and Kydex sheath.

You might want to try BladeArt for the AB Chipmonk. Larry has one pictured on the site.
