Sub 6" Blade Busse any Ideas

The BATAC is a pretty nice 5-incher.

I'm also interested in a mid-sized Busse in the 5-5.5" max range, same rough size as the RMD. I really hate Texas knife laws....

Hey Brother, look over on page 2 this thread. John The Texican  hit your question right in the nose. The BATAC is IMHO one of the best knives that has come out of Busse Combat and given TX knife laws it would fit the bill perfectly. I am from TX but been in Alaska for many years now. Thinking about moving home once I retire in 14 months.

Only time I was threatened with being arrested was in Texas. Got stopped On 195 headed to Austin and when my vehicle (old ragged 1992 S10) was searched the Officer found an old rusted knife, about 6" blade and top 2" "sharpened" more of a false edge. You would have thought he found 2 kilos, he gasped, backed up...put his hand on his gun and started questioning me about why I didn't disclose I had a "double edged dagger". Texas knife laws are pretty funny.

You'll no doubt be relieved to know that it is now generally legal in Texas to possess an "illegal knife" in your car or boat. See Texas Penal Code sec. 46.02.

But speaking of funny Texas knife laws, it's illegal to possess a firearm, illegal knife, club, or other prohibited weapon within 1000 feet of the premises of a place of execution on the day they're executing someone. There's an exception if you're in your house or travelling on a public road for firearms and clubs, but not "illegal knives." So technically if you have a Battle Mistress (or a 6-inch chef's knife, for that matter) in your house and live within 1000 feet of the death house in Huntsville, your a third degree felon.

Looks like just the ticket, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for one.

RMD is probably about the perfect knife for everyday use(for me)...imho...maybe not for chopping, got the big boys for that but it will do it if necessary, also will take a beating which i am trying to dish out now on the farm..I will do my best to kill it but it sure is a damn good knife.

I don't have a BATAC, but if Russ recommends it, I'm sure it's good:thumbup: I like my Pork Shank and Ratmandu.

I should have also said the RMD as well. The RMD (SR-101) and BATAC (INFI) are two of the best knives to show up in this size knife. I also have 4 RMD's so they are very much worth it!!!

The Scrapyard Scrapper 5 LE (S5LE) in INFI is lightweight with comfortably textured Resiprene-C handle and 5 1/2" blade length. At just over .15" thick, it's a great slicer with a shallow choil to allow choking up. This one has been modified by Ban Tang with a full convex grind to zero edge and has had the thumb ramp removed from the spine. The spine was also radiused (domed) by Ban:

Don't over look the SAR-5, Its a great user knife, even better if you thin out the edge a bit.
I like the way the handle melds into the blade without some big choil and talon hole to take up space.
