Here is a pic of the MPT with Black Micarta side-by-side with a stock MPT:

PotterMa, I am planning on trying my hand on making some handles of my own out of some Iron Wood I have had laying around forever for my SubCom and my MPT, as soon as the remodel on my shop is done. Would you be willing to share how you remove the handle off of the MPT. If you prefer you can shoot me an e-mail at LongRider@bearvisions.com or PM me. Thanks for the assist

Oh BABY!

GOTTA get me a Trance, and the Trance GOTTA get Canvas Micarta scales!!!

This stuff is just TOO COOL!

Hey guys, sorry to raise a thread from the dead but I have a little "quest" for anyone who owns a subclaw and/or a keycom.

I'd like to see a pic of either/both in the watch/coin pocket of a pair of jeans. I know that not all pockets are the same size but it'll give me a good estimate of size.

Also, anybody use theirs as a money clip? Any pics?

Thanks so much guys!

One reason people state for not liking a tanto shaped blade is that they don't have any "belly" for slicing. So, I've always thought, why not put a "belly" on a tanto. Or, in this case, put a tanto tip onto a blade with some belly :D

The tanto tip is a convex zero grind for strength.

Thoughts?

Michael I was browsing around and saw this handle material on a Wharcom and wanted to talk to you about having this done to a trance, persistence or tenacious. I couldn't save the image to post pics but the link is below and the images are number 33 and 34. Very natural and beautiful. About time to add a friend to the Subcom you did for me in red and black CF. Please drop me an email at Liveitloud1@yahoo.com

Thanks, Gerri

Just found a shot of it that I could save.

This thread is amazing. Potterma, you're a wildman!

I'd love to try this myself - I have a Trance and Hyper in the mail and a pair of BK11's at home. I'm thinking something classy, but with just enough flash to see if dropped in the dark.

Potterma, what tools do you use to do the shaping?

I do my own holsters, and would like to get into revolver grips, but that's waiting for a router.

Thoughts on the tanto-tip Trance: waaaay cool combination. I love the look of tantos, but don't have the patience to sharpen them. I'm probably way behind most of this board's members in knife maintenance...

daizee: Tools are pretty basic. I've got a cheap drill press, a dremel and a palm sander. Rest of it is files and sand paper!

As for sharpening the tanto grind, I find using a sheet of your choice of sandpaper on a flat surface is the most satisfactory.

Best of luck, and be sure to show off the results!

^Those are cool. I hate how the thumb "stud" snags on your pants when you take it out, may have to try that out myself.

Potterman,

Thanks for the Evil Eye Subs.

I wear scrubs at work and found that the stud would get hung up on the material. So I asked Potterman to do this mod and it WORKS!

Keep up the good work

Great job on the 'evil eye' Potterman.
How did you remove the thumb stud? Where you able to reuse the studs? I find the studs snag on whatever I cut, so I want to remove my studs as well. But just in case I don't like the look I might want to replace them.
