Can I sandblast and then cold blue a blade to achieve a subdued finish? For this moment, I need a cheaper alternative to parkerizing. I don't have a sandblast booth, but I'm sure I can find someone who does locally. Any other ideas?
I have done it and I think it looks good but I have to say you should bead blast instead of sandblast. Sandblasting leaves a very coarse surface that will stain or rust fast. Beadblasting is more like peining so the surface is actually quite a bit smoother than the coarse sanding of sandblasting. You should also be aware that cold blue is a very thin finish and can wear off fast.
