subhilt-bowie ´TORUK´, the last shadow...

If Vlad the Impaler was looking for a knife this piece would do nicely :)

I really like it and I'm not a big sub hilt fan

Like Joe, I'm usually no big fan of sub-hilts because often the sub-hilt doesn't flow well into the overall design. It's like the maker creates his usually style bowie or fighter and adds in the sub-hilt.
Definitely not the case here, as this pieces "flows" wonderfully and execution is superb as is the norm with this maker's knives.

I believe Gerhard won the 2011BF Best Bowie award and looks like he has a strong contender for 2012.
Seems there may have been a little strategic planning going on here in regard to his timing in posting this piece.

I do look foward to seeing your amazing knives

Another great one!

This is a very impressive blade. Looks like alot of forging work went into this guy.

I saw this thread the other day, and did not comment because I was on my phone.

Wow, I love this knife. The guard shape, texture and flow are all perfect for this knife.

thank you too for posting!

@joe,
in the hands of Vlad the Impaler this knife would be a real ´last shadow´!

okay- I must agree...
but in a competition with pro-fotografers I´m trying to hold my (poorly taken !!) knife-pics in fresh memory! ;-)

Beautiful blade. Now, aren't you supposed to forge a Mimung?

Du machst deinem Namensvetter alle Ehre. Respekt.

I am really partial to subhilts and this one is "over-the-top" exceptional...very beautiful piece!!

@ MARSUS, frenchman &Idlewild,
thnak you too for taking time to post!

frenchman,
´mimung´ was the masterpiece of ´wieland´-
it will take some more efforts for me to reach his skills!

I know. I grew up in Saarland, at a time when a young boy had to play outside or read a book to distract himself, because there was no video games, and only ARD, ZDF and SR3. I read Dietrich von Bern several times, my favorite was always Heime. I still remember some of the names of the weapons and equipment, like Nagelring, Mimung, Eckesachs, and a few more.

@frenchman,
yep, these names are also in my mind and a part of my youth...

@don,
thanks for posting, I´m glad you like this bowie!

If my hubby bought this for himself, I would've taken it away and kept it for myself. Pretty Knife!
