Subtle Sebenza Changes Over The Years...

As far as I know the chamfer around the stud is broader in the middle on the Classics and uniform on the 21s. Not sure about those earlier models though...

Are we both talking about the very front tip of the handle when the knife is closed?

It seems we're not talking about the same. I meant the chamfer around the recess of the handle which allows access to the stud. See this pic (it's my large classic, 08):

There's also the new chamfer around the front edges (in front of the pivot) on the 21's. Kinda reminiscent of a Sure-Fire bezel. ;)

And then of course there's the Roman numerals and writing that appeared on the Classics.

Now I see what you mean, I thought we were talking about the very tip of the handle, sorry about that.

Here's a 2002 Small Regular with the ridges and a 2008 Small Regular without them.

I'm not sure I like the grooves on it, though they definitely are there and I can see what you're talking about.

I've noticed that blade length has increased slightly.

My 2006 Small Regular Sebenzas blade is 2 13/16"
My 2010 Small 21 Sebenza blade is 2 15/16"

Only just noticed that on my 2010 Tanto as well. The camfer on the lockbar is different now too-compared to my 2008 Sebenza. Or is that because my 2010 has double studs?

I was in plaza cutlery today contemplating my relationship with a sebenza from them. I noticed on the classic with scalloped lockbar vs the 21 with it's smooth lockbar, that the classic they had, had on it a blade which had a slight radius on the top edge. For me that is far more aesthetically pleasing than a flat straight too edge. While it means nothing to the utility I found the slight radius made me drawn to that knife in a way the 21 did not, the same thing that pushes ms awayfrom most spydercos.

Is it just me??

What do you mean radiused top edge? Do you mean the rounded spine?

Nope, I mean the spine of the blade is radiused, as in the spine curves from tip to handle, rather than being a straight line.

While not exactly "radiused", the early Classics had a slightly more upswept clip point than later Classic versions and the 21. The early Regular blade profile ('96-'98) had the clip downturn point slightly more forward along the spine (closer to the tip) than later Regulars, which made the "hump" look more pronounced.

It's very subtle, but makes a noticeable difference to me. I'm just picky though.

Classic's Do Not Have Scalloped Lock Bars, You Must Be Referring To A Regulator Model Sebenza.
