Some of you may remember me posting some time back inquiring about these. After many emails to Bahco corporate in both the US and Europe, I found these little hatchets very hard to get into the US for some reason. I also emailed several overseas vendors that were not willing to ship them here. Finally I found a company in the UK that would and ordered one.

Unbelievably, I ordered it on the 7th of September and got it today! I don't get things in 5 days sometimes even if I order them here in the states. Total for the tool and shipping was $75. This is supposed to be a "cheap" hatchet; sort of "mora-like" if I can use the term. Probably could have gotten something like here, but all the things it has combined in one package provoked my curiosity to get the best of me. We'll see if it was worth all the trouble. ;)

Anyway, it is raining cats and dogs here today, so I can't really get out and give it a good try, so I thought I'd take some pics of it and post them up.

The carbon head feels like a good weight for a camp hatchet. The handle is fiberglass with rubberized grip. The edge needs some serious work but I hopefully should be able to convex it well with just sandpaper.

Its raining, get to the sandpaper and lets see some shaved arms! :)

At least its Scandinavian, so no issues with the quality of the head material, and the handle is unbreakable.

I have GB's and Wetterlings, but I kind of dig this too, its kooky and practical enough for a second look :)

Nice hawk..... Its hard to split wood with one though, unless you have a wedge. Im interested in seeing how it performs for ya. I love hawks.

Sweet! Please give me the info on how to get one. I love Bahco, and have 4 of their hatchets.

Nice ! what's the weight on that ?

2.25 pounds on the nose. The head itself weighs 1.5 lbs.

I wanted more of a chopper, but the reason I wanted this was due to the hammerhead poll. I figured I could use that for a hammering pegs and other things, like maybe a light wedge if I found the need for one.

It looks like it will eat wood all day! I definatly like the hammerhead.

I'd love to find a short handle like that to mount on one my hawks to make it more durable. I wonder if they sell replacement handles....
