Successor to Calypso Jr Ltwt...opinions

Little Claw,

I'm surprised to hear that you have had trouble locating a plain edged Calypso Jr. lightweight. I thought there were still a few around with the dealers. Are you ready to try a different knife style as your primary choice, or would you prefer to replace yours with another new Calypso Jr.?

Jeff/1911.

There's nothing like the Calypso jr. Though discontinued, it can still be found on Ebay. However, if you plan on changing your current EDC, you could consider the Delica, the Standard (also discontinued but still available). They keep the same line

Although I've warmed to the idea of a new style and I'm very much looking at the Lum as a Calypso Jr. upgrade, as mentioned by Mr Blonde, I would very much like to locate a P/E Calypso Jr. (or a couple) for the future.

So far I've not been able to identify another design that will do exactly what the Jr. does for me and, although I don't have kids yet, I see it as the ideal first 'proper' pocket knife and I would like to be able to offer them one when the time comes.

Jeff: if you can point me to any dealers who may have some left I'd be most grateful.

Dialex and Captain Ron: Thanks for the Delica suggestion, I didn't realise it was available in VG-10 these days.

Little Claw,

I've been watching online for a dealer with some in stock for you, since I read your first post recently. I agree that it does seem that supplies of these has sort of dried up. As you mentioned, the serrated version abounds...but the plain edged version is scarce.

I asked the question about whether you were looking for a change to a different style or not, as this particular knife (pe Calypso Jr. LW) will likely be among some knives I intend to list "for trade" on the trading forum here soon.

The one I have is in perfect, brand new condition. I'm just not sure when I will actually be listing it along with the others.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye peeled for you for a new one online.

Cheers, Jeff/1911.

The PE's are really hard to get. When they come up on eBay there is always a few people hanging around to do last second bidding so you either have to pay the high "buy it now" price or get lucky in the bidding war. I love this knife and have a couple put away for when my current one dies, but would love to get a couple more. Local dealers mostly say they never had any to begin with, or want full list of $70.00+ which is a bit high.

This is truly a super EDC knife, and it's a shame it is no longer produced IMO.

Jeff,

Its very kind of you to keep an eye out for me, and if one does pop up I'd definitely try to get a hold of it. In the meantime, however I will be buying a substitute (Lum probably) as mine is really showing her age.

Thanks for your help.

Dom
