I can't make up my mind!

On one hand, I want the Fenix TK12.. but on the other hand I want to get a new fixed blade.

I'm not too sure which fixed blade yet which only makes this more difficult as I have more options.

As far as knives go:

I'm looking for something that's the following:

- Preferably in the 4 - 6" blade length range
- Kydex or Zytel sheath
- Single edged
- Around the same price as the TK12 would be which means approximately $50 - 70

Anyone wanna help a poor indecisive fellow out?

I gather you have knives already. If that's the case, get the Fenix.

Personally, I'd get a Malkoff md2 with the m61 head. 260 lumens out of the box, but it's twice as much as you're asking for. Then again it's made in the USA and has military type III anodizing (not type II).

Get both! you need light to see what your cutting :)

+1 malkoff

What's the difference between Type III and Type II anodizing?

Lol. I can't get both right now. If I could just jump and get both I already would have!

It's one or the other!

Just to give you guys an idea of what I'm currently working with, I have a Fenix P3D, a Surefire Z2, a Surefire 6P, a 4Sevens Quark Mini 123

And for knives I've got:

Emerson Super Karambit
Spyderco Endura
Both models of Becker Neckers
Spyderco Tenacious
and a few more sitting in a drawer that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Type 3 is more durable and its probably far better on the malkoff. Fenix are good for the price but you really owe it to yourself to experience malkoff.

What is the fixed blade for? Hiking/camping? Food prep?

Becker BK2 + Mora = $70

Hiking/camping knife + food prep/backup fixed

Other knives..
Kabar Heavy bowies
SOG Field pup
Benchmade Rant
Kabar USMC types
Ontario has some 1095 blades
Maybe lower end Ranger knives < 70

all i can think of offhand

Think about the knife vs flashlight need.
There are some days when I don't use my knife. Not often but it does happen.
But it gets dark every night.

True, but he has several flashlights already. The only fixed blade is two becker neckers.

The fixed blade would be used for both camping purposes and carried once in a while on a mercharness in the city when I work certain gigs.

That's the cause for the size restriction. If I didn't have to consider how large a fixed blade could reasonably be when I'm doing certain security gigs, I'd say go nuts on the size. Unfortunately, that isn't possible.

Sell the Surefires and get a better flashlight and an RC4 or RC6- why go for a cheaper knife when you can get something that good for just a little bit more? I've found it always pays to get good quality- as long as a good knife lasts the price difference hardly matters. But you will cuss a cheap blade or bad handle every time you use it, right up until you end up buying the better knife anyway.
