Today while sledding with the kids I lost my Foliage Green combo-edge Delica. I had it attached by the clip to my waistband. I could probably go looking for it but it's probably buried in the snow and won't be found until spring.

Sad day. :(

But now I get to buy something else! :)

Spaderco? Are they enny good?

Just a coincidence, I'm carrying 2 Spydies today and a third is on my desk. AND I'm eating pretzels -- yeah, I have no self-control. :p

I feel your pain brother. I too lost a spydie a few days ago in the snow, a Burgundy zdp jess horn. I went back to look for it but it was no where to be found. Hopefully someone finds it and puts it to good use! Luckily I have 2 more copies in the drawer! What are you gonna get now?

I hope you eventually find it. A buddy gave his Delica 3 to his Dad and his Dad promptly lost it somewhere. Well this was mid summer. The rest of the summer past by and then winter and last summer he was working in the yard and found it. It survived winter and more than one mowing. Good thing they don't mow their yard super short.

It had some discoloration but cleaned up nicely and he still carries it today.

Do don't give up hope. I'd be out looking for it just in case.

I went back to running equipment. I'm now plowing snow.
Crap, as a woodworker I loved playing with my knives at work. Now I'm afraid to take anything of value - at least five feet of snow greet me as I exit my place (14+ extra inches last night and it's still falling like it's Armageddon). It's deep enough I'm almost worried about losing my dog in it. This snow stuff is epic here in the Sierras - never saw anything comparable in Colorado.
A leatherman is all I'm willing to risk losing.
Whatever... at least now I get to be out in the absolute best parts of the storms.
Ahhh... duty calls... see ya folks.

Put a post out on your local craigslist, in the lost/found section and ask to be contacted by some local metal detectorists. It'd take them only a few minutes I bet, to find the Dfly for you. You can also register & post your need on Friendly MD forum, Findmall forum or Treasure Quest. There are likely several detectorists in your area who would be happy to help out.

OUCH!

Been there and done that.

Trust me it may sting now but the pain goes away with time.

I feel much better now that I'm on list for the Para2. :)

I've got a chain that I bought from a Victorinox website a few years ago that I connect to my folder and my belt loop when I am partaking in activities where I might lose my knife.

It has saved me a few times. If I remember correctly it didn't cost that much.

I have lanyards on most of my folders so I connect the small end to the lanyard.

Hi Ken,

Good on ya for sledding with the kids. :)

Sorry about the loss. Been there a couple of times.

I will say that the materials in your knife are quite good and should you find it in the spring (which I've done), it will probably be in good shape.

Metal detectors will work in snow ;)

I dropped my Spyderco Police into the snow by the woodpile about 15 years ago. Being all stainless it blended in with the snow making it impossible to find. I borowed the neighbor's metal detector and found it right away.

What? You lost it IWB? How is that possible? I always thought that it's impossible to lose a knife clipped IWB.

You obviously never went sledding with my kids. Anything is possible. ;)

Yeah, but what happened? Did it snag on something? When I carry IWB, the knife is covered by my shirt, and the clip is protected by my belt. I don't think I could ever lose it this way.

You can disbelieve all you want. It happened. I have no idea how but it did. In everyday use yeah, it may be difficult to lose but I WAS SLEDDING. You know, going down a hill reeeeeally fast and hitting bumps and crashing.

Geez, can't believe I have to explain it.

Sorry to hear about the loss Ken. do what some of the guys mentioned with finding someone with a metal detector. even if you have to wait till the thaw, look for it. i lost a byrd in my yard and didn't find it till spring time. it cleaned up pretty well considering so dont give up hope:D.

Sorry for your loss--I hope you find it when the snow melts.

I remember good old Dave H. lost a Sebbie in the snow around his driveway. He eventually found it--I think it was months later--and it cleaned up nicely.

I have an idea for a temporary substitute--but it would be deal spotting to say it here. PM me if you'd like to know.
