I haven't bought a traditional for many years and would like to get back into it . I am looking for a single blade that I can open easy without using my fingernail only something around 4 inches closed open to any blade shape . Would appreciate any suggestions .

Gec's 72 and 42 are eminently pinchable, as are most locibacks.

This 72 with the wide spear blade is an easy pinch to open, very light pull with a solid lockup.

Thanks for your imfo , when I look on line a lot of the photos are of the blade open so it is hard to tell how much of the blade sticks out when closed.

I'd recommend the GEC 85EO and I also have a Schatt & Morgan Heritage Jack that is very easy to pinch open. Pictures of mine below. Best of luck.

A Case CopperLock might be an option...

These are both easily pinched open but only the top one is actually labeled as such. Top is #15 Boys Knife 3.5" & bottom is #25 Little Jack 3".

I've heard the new 47 viper is pinchable as well.

At 3,75 inches the northwoods fremont jack is not to far away from your wanted length of 4 inches. It's very pinchable.

Not sure if 3.5" is too short but the Case Carhartt mini-trapper #36325 has an easy to pinch open single wharncliffe blade. Joe.

Like the length closed and the looks of that Freemont Jack , read some about the Weaver Jack and one person wrote it has no half stop, may like that opening but I don't no about closing .

Like those easy open models, must be hard to find I have been checking the sites with no luck.

As others have already mentioned the Great Eastern #15 easy open Scout is a good one. The sheepsfoot blade sticks out a bit more than a spear or clip blade and offers more area to pinch. The single blade model I have has a softer pull than all of the other 15 frame GEC's own.

Of the ones pictured the scout is the only one currently availible. There may be a few of the 85's left at collectorknives. The most recent ones were a special factory order (SFO) Mike had made up. The 25 EO's haven't been made in a while.

Which model are you looking for?

I would like to find a #85 EO and a #72 lock back here on the forum, would like the non linerlock model

I just sent you an email. The 85 in the message may be the only easy open one left! The non EO version is fairly pinchable too as the blade is pretty wide.

The 72's are widely availible. I had one with some verticle blade play as this is common with this model.
