suggest a decent folder

Can anyone suggest a affordable but decent folding knife? I've looked at alot of Kershaw models, and really like their Ken Onion line (Leek, Shallot), but I don't think I want to explain to sheeple that the A/O doesn't make it a switchblade.

I am looking for knives around 2-4" locking blade. I want a decent quality steel, preferably something that can hold an edge better than 440A. It will mostly be an EDC knife, and will get used occasionally for camping/backpacking needs.

I know CRKT makes some fairly affordable knives, can someone recommend a model?

Thanks!

well whats your budget? out side of budget, go with the Kershaw groove, or the JYD2 or JYD. you also have the new Kershaw Skyline coming out. All of them use sandvik 13c26. all of them are affordable ($30-$60 range). none of them are speed safe, so no sheeple worries. the flippers work great, and are very fast.

The Native is one of many excellent and affordable knives from Spyderco...

yep thats my police officer trick i open it with both hands and close it with both hands

Look at the Boker Trance and CLB line of knives by Boker. Good Luck.

Check out the ZT line...you surely find something there for your needs..I have a ZT 301 and can't say enough about it.

From your description of your wants, it seems to me that the nearly "perfect" knife for you is the Ken Onion designed Kershaw Blur in S30V.

Probably the best stainless steel (S30V) readily available today, truly superb blade geometry, great ergonomics, easy assisted opening, razor sharp out of the box, and a very reasonable price. ~$75

I'd suggest taking a look at Benchmade's red line of knives. Their Vex and Ambush lines are worth taking a good look at. Quality stuff and affordable!

I would suggest the cyclone. Yes it is assisted opening, but you can turn it off. If your budget goes up to the $100 dollar rang i would suggest a Benchmade 710 opens as fast as an AO but is not an assisted opener.

The best folder you can buy is a Cold Steel Voyager. It will even out-perform custom knives. They come in 3", 4" and 5" sizes. I carry the 4" size for everyday use, but I have 2-5" ones that I carry sometimes as well (where legal). They come in both clip-point and tanto-point, serrated, 1/2 serrated and plain blade versions. You won't be unhappy with it.

The Spyderco Endura 4 in VG-10 is an excellent compromise for a great knife at a reasonable price.

Another +1 for the Native from Spyderco. I also had a blur, not the s30v, but still was a good knife for the price. Carried it two years, no problems at all, until it got shoved out of it's place in my pocket by the Native and my EKI mini commander.
