I just got my first paycheck from my new job. I know I shouldn't just start spending, but after a LONG time without buying a new knife, I want one. So, I need some help. Help me choose a new Spyderco as a gift to myself!

Tell me which one and why.

Just so you know, I don't do much heavy cutting, but I do like carrying larger folders at times - I love my Tenacious and Endura 3.

I don't want it to be too flashy - has to gake abuse and look like it should be taking abuse.

I also don't want an extremely high riding knife.

Anyway, if you feel like it, help me out! Thanks!

They are both under consideration. I love the compression lock (possible + for Para). I've also been thinking about trying the ball lock - looking hard at the G-10 Polliwog.

Whatever you decide upon, make sure you don't tell yourself when you order so you'll be surprised when it arrives.

:p

So, it looks like I may have narrowed it to the Para, Polliwog, and Sage, but I'm very interested in the Leafstorm as well...

I say sage . In my opinion there is no better deal for the price anywere. I use mine all the time . Great knife.

Spyderco put the D2 Para Military up on their website for $99.95. That might be something to think about.

Did they come out with the Native 4 yet? That's the one I want. I love that flat grind on a Native!

Find a Spyderco Bob Lum folding tanto off evilbay. You can find mint condition ones on there. It's my holy grail knife. It's also one of the most sought after knives for Spyderco fans. It's been discontinued since 2003. Also, prices might be higher now due to the late and great Bob Lum.
