Suggest a knife for my next purchase please - in the $450 - $700 range

Hands down Todd Begg Steelcraft Kwaiken. If I had known about this knife earlier I would have it already. The knife can be flippered or waved due to double guard design. Great blade shape. What are you waiting for.

I very seldom use the slip case but when I do I like to attach it to my keychain to keep everything together.
