suggest a new EDC!

On a totally different note, have you considered any traditional style folders? Locking folders narrows it down some, but there's still a wide range to choose from. Main reason I mention that is shock factor. Traditionals are much more sheeple friendly. Just a suggestion...don't rule them out just because you're not used to them. I've never been a traditional guy but I bought a GEC recently and I've actually been surprised by how much I enjoy using it.

Take a look at the Esee Zancudo. It's very similar to the Rat 2 in a lot of ways, but thinner and lighter. It can be found all over the place for around $35, and comes in a lot of scale color and blade color combinations. Frame lock, like you were looking for...right hand carry only, but tip up or tip down. Reasonably deep carry clip. I have one and it runs a close second to a Skyline as an EDC that I grab when I need to be discrete. Personally, I prefer the Skyline but your mileage may vary. Good luck.

This is a good point, if you like the RAT series (1 or 2) but you want slimmer, the Esee Avispa & Zancudo are almost the same but slimmer because of the frame lock. I have the Zancudo and while it is a little small for me it is a great knife none the less.

Out of all the knives I've seen on this thread I liked the Case CV Sodbuster, Buck 342 Vantage Pro, CRKT Ripple best. In your situation I think the Case CV Sodbuster may be your best bet. But if the Ontario Rat 2 fits your fancy then it sounds like you should have a new knife at your doorstep pretty soon! Random question, is the Case CV Sodbuster a traditional folder? Don't know much about it but I really like the looks and simplicity of this knife.

It is a traditional and thus does not fit the original criteria. No pocket clip. Kind of hard to carry a traditional without a pocket clip IWB.

The reason I threw the Sodbuster into the mix is because it is solid and I have found it is the knife co-workers never look twice at. Plus everyone should own one.

I agree it is a great knife. I am currently on the look out for one. That said, The OP specifically wants to carry it IWB using a clip. Also, he does not want people to know he has a knife AT ALL.

Just my 0.02 here.

I do not own any SAKs or "old timey knives" but something along those lines may be what you need.
Light, sensible, concealable and friendly.
I don't need any of those attributes so i carry whatever i want.

Again: just my 0.02, please don't flame me for my humble advice.

Hey thanks for the suggestion, but if i recall correctly, only one liner is metal and it kinda turns me off. Very good looking knife though, probably light too!

How about the Leek? This is a great knife with superior steel and within your budget. http://www.knifeworks.com/search.aspx?find=leek

Thanks for the suggestion, I've never been a fan of the leeks appearance, seems to be a classic though!

Good suggestion, although I am guilty of only loving the modern blades.

You got it! Very socially unaccepted where I live, I'd say probably one out of 100 carry here and the ones that do, consider them a weapon. I just like to EDC it solely because i like them, although, i really dont like everyone knowing.

there are some dealers on ebay who sell the original spyderco native in that price range.

Great suggestion! If i had seen that Esee Avispa comment before i ordered the RAT 2 then maybe id have changed my mind. The zancudo is identical to the RAT 2 but with a framelock which i like. I wonder which is more durable?
Definitely would have considered that instead, however, the RATs are a classic, time to see what the hype is about. Love the look too!

This may be a stupid question, but if carrying is so frowned upon where you live, then why do you carry IWB? I don't think anybody would dispute that's probably one of the less effective ways to hide a knife. The clip is plainly visible. People ARE going to see it occasionally.

If it's such a big deal then why don't you just put the knives in your pocket and be done with it? Even a larger knife can be carried pretty well with a pocket slip. Then you don't have anything to worry about, and you can carry to your hearts content. Nobody will ever see what's inside your pocket unless you choose to take it out of your pocket. I guess I don't really understand all the extra effort you're going to to "hide" your knife IWB when you could just pocket it and have no issues.
