suggest a pry bar?

lotsa great suggestions! much appreciated!

For the current folder, my decision is made...Gotta go with the Greco Folder, one heck of a stout looking little knife, and the price just can't be beaten. Thanks for the suggestion and the great review, Mongrel!

For the fixed blade, I'm kinda pondering between a Greco there as well, or a Busse.

Off in dreamland I REALLY want a Strider for both areas. The designs are awesome, and have a great reputation. Not to mention Mr. Strider seems like a hell of a guy, and I also can't help but to want to buy a knife from a guy whose from the same neck of the woods as me. but man that's ALOT of overtime to work for them kinda funds...I keep hearing a Strider knife is worth it, and I do believe them, but that's still alot of money to part with...

(knowin' darn good and well I'll find a way to justify it at this point) ie: well, if I pay $350 for a Strider AR, and use it for the rest of my days on earth that would be pennies a day for the bestestest knife i could ever buy.....)

Anyhoo, thanks for all the suggestions, they proved to be very helpful!

I think you're making up your own mind: GET A STRIDER. It WILL be worth it! I personally don't feel comfortable buying something if I know there is something better out there. I can't buy "second or third-best." Just think how great you'll feel if your life depends on that Greco, and it fails you... I'm sure the first thing that'll pop into your head will be "Yeah, but I saved SO much money!" :p

Just my opinion. I'd just get the Strider, charge it on your Visa, and ground yourself from buying anything else for a while...IF you can! :D

Trust me, the second you touch and SMELL your first Strider, all thoughts of price will melt away...

I'd get the Busse for an incredibly strong and tough fixed blade. (In fact, I have.)

Perhaps you should hang out for a while on the Busse Forums and the Strider forums, to gather the information you need and help make the right decision for you.

I have a Busse AS and it's a crowbar that I can wear around my neck or on my belt or in my pocket :p Seriously, it is EXTREMELY stout and is made of 1/4" stock (ever-so-awesome) INFI steel. Try one out, you certainly won't be dissapointed.

ACK!!! Da**it! I want 'em all!!!!!!!:D  ;)

I can reccomend the Buck Nighthawk as a good, stout FB.
It is .25 in. thick 420HC (not the best edge holding steel, but pretty tough)and has a very nice and grippy handle.
Pretty darn inexpensive for such a good knife!
I do alot of chopping with mine and it holds up great.

Go to the Busse forums.

The Assault Shaker is an EDC neck-carry pry-bar as mentioned, and lists for only $117.

And knowing Jerry, and his desire to meet and exceed consumer requirements, there will probably be a 3-4 incher fixed with tanto in the future... ;)

Check out the performance videos on the Busse forum. You will be able to get a good idea ofthe flexibility and resiliancy of INFI, and why a Busse will be your best fixed choice (and it will be your best folder when it is released too ;) )

There have been a lot of good suggestions. My vote would be for either a Busse Basic 3, or the new Busse Badger Attack III, or a Busse Badger Attack II if you can find one.

Prying will be no problem with these blades. INFI is amazingly flexible, but also hard (and thus not weak). Plus, if you do manage to break or damage one while prying, the warranty covers you. Period.

3.5 - 4" easily carried prybar? Hmmm, maybe something like this Campos tanto... ;)

This one has a 3 3/4" blade of 6mm (~ 1/4") thick K-100 (D-3) steel & is about 1.5" wide in front of the guard. I cannot imagine exerting enough force by hand to ever damage it.
