Suggest a spyderco for me...

I'm looking to expand my horizons and try something new. My favorite and most carried spydie is my pm2. I recently bought and tried carrying a mantra 1 but it just didn't do it for me for some reason. Nothing at all wrong with it but it wasn't enough to bump my pm2. I've tried a pm3 and same feeling, not bad but just not great. I've tried a delica and a native 5 and both were good but I just don't like back locks. So I'm wondering what else I should try, what is at least the equal to the pm2 and isn't a back lock? Suggestions welcome....

A Manix 2 would be my suggestion as well, haha. I'm betting you'll get a lot more people saying that too. The Manix doesn't quite have the fame of the PM2, but it is well respected by many, many knife enthusiasts. Can't get any better than that!

Manix 2 is the first thing that comes to mind. There are some really cool options available from the Taichung Factory too. Sliverax, Vallotton, Gayle Bradley are all worth a look.

i take it your after something about the same size as the PM2!gayle bradley 1 or 2 fits this bill,my GB1 is a more robust knife but vary hard on my thumb to close,i use it mostly as my work folder, this and my PM2 are my day to day carry, just not at the same time though, something in the mid size i also like is a sage 2 in around town.

I agree with the Sage2 recommendation, and I'm very fond of my Mantra2... but, if I'm being honest, the Advocate is probably my favorite Spyderco (though I carry my Mantra2 more, for personal reasons)

Like you the PM2 is my favourite spyderco
I don’t have problems with backlocks so the Delica and Salt were fine for me
I will try the Native and see if it can replace my Delica

I am interested in the techno and wait for the techno 2 to be released

Manix 2 lightweight was my daily carry for most of 2017 as well as this year, its got fantastic ergos like the PM2.

BladeHQ DLC M4 jade g10 Manix 2. This will be the best suggestion that you receive this year.:p

Unlike you, I happen to love back locks. I can open and close a Spyderco back lock as easily as any liner lock and the back lock is much stronger than other locks. However, since you do not like them, I would suggest a Manix 2 with the CBBL. The regular is a bit heavy, but not too bad. However, the light weight version is a real revelation. It is a big knife that weighs very little. I carry one often.

I have several Manix 2's. One is in the new DLC M4 and the orange G10 in S90V. The weight is actually desirable to me...as long as a knife is five ounces or less.

At least the equal of the PM2? A tall order. For something comparable but with several contrasting features, consider the Spydiechef: slightly longer (by edge length) and slicier blade with a stronger tip on a unique blade shape and outstanding steel, easier to carry (shorter, thinner handles with deep carry wire clip), and titanium scales with the Reeve Integral Lock.

Might have to try a Manix it sounds like. I can’t really explain why I don’t like back locks, I just don’t. I just looked up the techno2 and that could possibly be a good one to try, same with the shaman.
