Suggested Fix for Ann's SAK

Oh there it is again that ole supply and demand thing. Comes up now and then. I'd bet you are overspending a bit but the damage is done now. :D

Looks like some other inexpensive choices available in those single blade ones though. Your knife just left in the mail. Its on the way home to you as I type.

STR,
You are so right; and I'm not actually bitter about the $ or the marketing racket ; after all, I wouldn't have found it on my own and if no one buys them, they don't get produced......I guess I feel duty-bound to find the best prices since I'm in a position of recommending gear. I have a tough time convincing students that they aren't "rich enough to afford the cheap one" so shaving a bit off the price or proving that they are getting a bargain can turn the tables.

Neat stuff guys. CombatG welcome to my forum. I like precious metal too!

STR,

The knife arrived this PM. Well done. I think having the finger indents for a precision grip will keep the LH fingers "in line" on the handle rather than letting the middle finger be "offset" the way it was when I lost my finger tip.

The easy open feature lets the RH finger and thumb get more contact with the blade and in the right spot, just as you said.

The surprise bonus feature was learning that this is a grafting knife! Cane is actually grass, so maybe there is a use for that little swirl at the end.

I'll ask hubby to take some pics so you can see how well the customization makes a nice fit. BTW I think the finish came out just fine and I'll post that check for the priority shipping.

Thanks,
annr

STR,
Here are the shots of the knife in position. I have already reaped the benefit of your "fix".:)

Good to hear Ann. It looks like I put the dimples where you can hit them easily with your fingers. My hands are fairly large so I had my wife mark them to be sure I'd come closer to your needs and not mine.

Got your CD and just wrote you this morning a thank you.

STR,
I realized today that your easy opener notch has an unintended consequence.:D improved ergos! When open, the ring finger has a nice little indentation to make the grip far more comfortable.

SRT,
This is what I do when I run into this problem. Use a small buffing tip on your dremil tool. Place your dremil on one of the lower speeds to keep it from burning the plastic. Use a very light compound like red ruge and lightly go over it. Another way that I use sometimes is to start with 2000 grit sand paper. You can polish the entire knife with 2000 grit even the blades and then just a once over with the buffer.

Shoot Low Sheriff; she rides a shetland.

Ann, I am glad you are finding more to like about it.

Thanks for the feedback.

harlangspencer thanks for the tips.
