Suggestion on fixed knife in 3-4" blade

I don't have a lot of experience with the Mora brand. I recently purchased a Companion HD as a general utility knife - I didn't mention it, or include it in the picture, because - while comfortable in hand - it was too dull to use. After a fair amount of time on a soft Arkansas stone it is functional...but it still requires more work (there is still one section of the blade that isn't fixed). Sure, it is an inexpensive knife; but my time is valuable to me. It seems Mora gets a lot of praise; so maybe I just got a lemon. Whatever the cause, it left a sour taste in my mouth (ha).

Kabar Becker BK-16 or BK-17, and a BK-14/24. My favorites are the BK-16 and some of the Dozier customs that aren't priced really high.

I have the carbon steel version and mine came shaving sharp. I've only had it a few weeks and I'm putting it thru the paces right now. I used it to demo some drywall then batoned a few sticks of pecan for my smoker, afterwards i spent about 10 min with the lansky and hit it a few licks on the strop and it was push cutting paper with ease.

Take a look at Entrek. They make several models at the 4" and under blade length. The Cobra and Companion are a couple with the 4" blade. I had a Cobra and absolutely loved it. Don't let the 440C put you off because Ray Ennis is a magician when it comes to 440C!

Also the new Boker Plus Krein Bulldog. It has a 3.5" blade and oal of 8.0". Nice clip point on this one.
