Finally started a project I drew out many years ago . My 1st. thoughts were for a bead blast finish , now I thinking of a satin finish . Also for handle material I 1st. thought of amazon bloodwood ( it has mystical belief ) but I also have some cocobolo and then a new thought was a braided para-cord wrap , orange, green and black braid . The sword and fittings are D-2 , Paul Bos heat treated . This is not for sale , it is for me and my son to inherit and will cleave a shoulder when it is finished .
Any ideas folks ?

There is a thousand other ways :D, but the way you did it is good. You could have tapered the tang profile, then milled/filed in the slot to fit up to the shoulders with a tight enough fit that it had to be tapped in place with a press fit. If done properly no need for solder or anything (but it doesn't hurt to put a drop of solder on).

Bloodwood would be nice, but parachord would be also but both are far one end or the other of the style spectrum, tough choice. Satin finish would be easier to keep, just scrub with some scotch brite after cutting things.
