This isn't really a problem yet, but I figured I'd ask if anyone had a similar experience. I recently sold a knife to another forum member without problem. He paid promptly and I sent the knife with tracking#. I sent the knife on the 9 September and was told from the clerk it would take approximately 11 business days to arrive due to customs and what-not. The tracking was pretty iffy as it didn't update until the knife arrived at the post office in the States. The last info stated a delivery was attempted on the 27th, but nobody was home, so a notice was left. Yesterday morning, sept30, the buyer contacted me asking if I could track the knife as he hadn't received it. I gave him of the info I had and asked him to check the info to see if it was correct. I haven't heard back yet, but I'm wondering if he'll be able to pick up the knife without the delivery slip? If not, what should we do? Also, could someone use the slip without ID?
I insured the knife, but I don't know what will happen if the postal service says it delivered the knife based on their records?
Any help would be appreciated.

If you insured it, then someone has to sign for it to complete the delivery. The receiver should have received a notice from USPS that they tried to deliver an insured package and it is available at his local post office for pickup.

I recently had a similar problem. I sent a knife so that the person would have to sign for it, an "attempt to deliver" notice was left and days later, they contacted me, wanting to know where the knife was. I told them that the tracking showed an attempt to deliver 5 days prior, they went to the Post Office and it was waiting there for them.

They had apparently got notices for 3 packages, but were only given 2 on their prior trip to the Post Office and didn't think to ask about the 3rd one.....

Hopefully yours will work out to!

Thanks guys:thumbup: I was hoping there wouldn't be a problem, but I haven't run into that sort of hurdle in the past.
