Suggestions for a new EDC Knife

OK, I'm feeling the itch for a new EDC knife. Price range is around $100. I would prefer non-plastic handles. I like FRN, G10, etc., but just want something different. Blade needs to be 3 inches or less. Locking mechanism is not important, but of course I would prefer a secure lock.

Blade steel: Anything better than 8CR13MOV.

And I would like something that looks really attractive. My Delicas and Dragonflies are my favorite EDC's but I would be the first to admit that they are not the most attractive designs.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

I like my Manly Wasp in Sandvik in orange G10, slip joint. The steel is easier to sharpen. They make one in S90V. There is a four stop opening which I did not like at first but I do now when I play with opening it.

Rat 2 in D2 steel as well.

Steel Will Mini Cutjack in D2 would be my pick. 3 inches, Flipper, nice blade profile, decent steel under 100$, liner lock.

If you don't mind a Slip Joint, the (out soon) MKM Fara could be a nice buy too, I like the style and the size fits your parameters. M390 steel, a bit over a 100$ though (Comes in different configurations. Wood, CF, Titanium):

I think you just cost me 40 bucks!:D

OP, you already know the Delica is the best, have you tried a slip joint of some kind? I'm a big GEC fan and they have some (the 44 and 15 come to mind) that would fit your parameters.

Thanks for the reply. I don't mind slip joints at all. If I know it's a slip joint, it's not a problem :) The problem is when you think you have a securely locking knife, and it isn't.

And yes, the Delica will always be king in my book. But want something a little different when I am not carrying my Delica.

That's a good looking knife. Thanks.

This seems nice. Like that it's a lockback and under 3 inches. Thanks. Looking for more suggestions though

It’s abit over your price but I have to recommend the kizer feist. I have never encountered a sub 3 inch (2.75) edc knife that is more enjoyable to carry. The knife is so light and compact in your hand it feels like you are carrying no knife at all. Yet still I manage to get just a 4 finger grip on it and I have size L hands.

It is abit above your price range but you will have an heirloom quality knife and will never need another 3 inch or minus knife to replace it.

Just be aware that it is a front flipper.

Can you suggest a specific model or provide a link? Sorry, but there are so many variants of that knife I have found.

EDIT: Sorry lapedog. I was looking at the Lionsteel. Found the Kizer

All is forgiven.

I discovered some unused "rewards points" sitting around doing nothing at KSF, so I actually should thank you for suggesting my new free knife!
I went with the blue scales.

Good choice, I would have gone with blue as well. I like the knife but others have taken priority. It's weird to go back to more budget oriented knives. It's either get one expensive knife or a couple budget folders and I usually end up with the "quality over quantity" approach these day (Although the phrase doesn't quite work too well since there are a lot of quality budget knives out there.)

I was actually "saving" my KSF points toward an CRK Impinda (when they finally come out) but then decided that 410 bucks would sting just as much as 450...

Now I got to scratch my "new knife itch" and it didn't cost me anything. I'll always remember a free knife more than a 40 dollar discount. I hear ya about price points tho, it can be hard to "go back" to more affordable knives. I find myself shopping all across the price spectrum.

I can provide some comparison pictures of it with some other well known knives for size comparison if you like...

Unfortunately I no longer have my delicas but I could compare it with, say an Endura and a Bic lighter or something.

Buck is coming out with a new version of the 110 and 112. G10 or Micarta. S30V. Thumbstuds. Pocket clip.

Cold Steel Code 4 in CTS XHP steel but this one is 3.5"
If the Swift was 3" I would recommend in a heartbeat..love mine!

I have a soft spot for Kershaw Blurs. The one in S30v is under 100, and the 14c28n versions are even less with different color configurations.

Slim pocket profile and aluminum scales with rubber inserts are pretty neat and secure in hand. The cutting edge is close to the handle which makes it a little easier for controlled whittling cuts. Flow through design for ease of cleaning. No flipper tab and hollow ground.

The factory pocket clip is not great, but when swapped with deep carry aftermarket clip it really comes alive as an EDC. If I grab a Blur as a main EDC paired with a SAK of some type and I feel well equipped.

Good luck in your search!
