I've searched til my eyes hurt, but I'd still like some suggestions if you wouldn't mind helping me out.

I'm looking for a small 3.5 or smaller (blade length) fixed blade with kydex sheath for defense carry. This is secondary to my Glock 26 and I carry a folder for utility purposes.

Ideally, I'll probably carry it IWB, with a Mercop tether. OR in my front pocket if the sheath sits low enough.

Fast and light and dependable is what I'm going for. Drop point or clip is good too.

Under $200 is doable. Production or custom is fine too. I'd like to make this purchase only once :)

Thanks for any help or pics you might have.

I would also like some suggestions on this fine question from some of the experienced posters here. I dont really like fix blades knives w/o some sort of handle and paracord wrapped doesnt really fix that problem for me. I love kydex sheaths even though I am a leather forever kinda guy, nothing beats the inherant security of kydex.

My choice would be the Dozier K-20 Canoe model which comes with his Sheath A which is a horizontal kydex belt sheath. It is very fast. Very sharp D2 steel. Price is right at your limit and worth it. You can also get the neck sheath for it which would be handy for some applications like fishing or boating. Link to Dozier knives: http://www.dozierknives.com/

I carry several small FB's. The one I carry most often is the Blackhawk Crucible set up for IWB. Great blade, easy indexing, bomb proof grip.

The Blackhawk Kalista was designed by edged weapons expert, Micheal Janich, especially for Kali style so you might want to check it out also.

I have also studied Pikal style and own a Shivwork's Disciple. Pikal is a very aggressive, savage, but effective style.

I really like my Ka-Bar TDI Law Enforcement Knife, I usually carry it small of back, but it fits well anywhere.

Small, fixed blade, kydex, front pocket or Mercop tether carry? And under $200? Try www.dozierknives.com These are high quality no frills and time tested blades made to be USED. The shops kydex is not easily matched by others. For defensive carry, a rough blast finish on micarta is essential.

this smith & wesson is cheap enough that you might want to check it out - if you like it you can have a kydex sheath made for it, if not you can sell it here. No one on BF is a huge fan of S&W knives for a reason - but I have handled this knife and it is indeed a strong wicked slasher. Not the greatest steel but since it's a dedicated SD knife you won't be dulling it on utility tasks:

The Spyderco Ronin is another good option. It is also a wharcliff, since in small blades those make really good pokers/slashers which is what you're looking for.

I haven't held the Boker MPT yet but so far Chad Los Banos has proven to have an outstanding sense of ergonomics, and is a practioner of some knife-related martial art:

There are quite a lot of other options out there, it really depends what fits your hand and style best. Probably you will want to stay away from double-edged knives b/c in a clich situation they are as likely to cut you as your opponent.

I concur with Senor Fishface5
This is my main neck knife:

IF you can sleep well at night knowing the knife is made in China===>
Go for it!!!
It's pretty "sharp" (I now that is a subjective term)
And under 20 bucks thumbup:

How about a Buck "bird and trout" knife??
It feels "good" in the hand for a small knife
And it's Made in USA if that matters to you
It's called the Mini-Mentor.........................

anything from bud nealy's line. the mcs sheath system allows you to carry any way you can imagine.

cool hand luke....if you are using a Mercop tether, may I suggest going to the Training/Practical Tactical forum right here on Bladeforums?

Mercop himself hangs out there...I'm sure he would have some quality advice. In fact, undoubtedly he has given someone else advice on the same question, which may be found using the Search feature.

If I recall, Mercop is a fan of one of CRKT's fixed blades.
