I'm real flexible with these for my next knife. I'm partial towerds Axis locks, but I've got a few of those already. So I'd like to try something different. So long as it's a good high carbon stainless, I'm pretty easy. I may even go tool steel for my next folder. TIA!

Hardheart was probably asking about preferences because there are going to be hundreds of good knives that fit your first two categories.

(Or... Just get the Paramillie.)

Ka-Bar D2 Dozier Designed Thorn. Sits nice and deep in the pocket and is a pretty darn good knife overall. Keeps a great edge for being a smaller more delicate cutting tool all thanks to the great wear resistance of the D2 but the cutting is nice also due to the thin grind. This one I carry a lot is akin to a scalpel.

There have been some very good recommendations made and they are all fine knives to be sure.

But after years of carrying and using all manner of knives, I now have a Spyderco Chinook II, and all of my other knives pale in comparison.

No matter which knife you eventually choose, you would be cheating yourself if you at least did'nt hold a Chinook II.

Good luck,
Allen.

I might just do that. I read an article about James Keating & the Chinook that got my attention. It rides higher than I like, but I can can probably deal with it.
