hey guys, i'm a newbie here and am quite impressed with the knowledge everyone here has and the eagerness you all have to help others. i have been contemplating purchasing a tough $50-70 folder and was wondering what you guys might suggest. I'd prefer a strong lockback, compression lock or possibly something like what i've seen in the BM and SOG folders. I am not a huge fan of liner locks, but if there are some solid ones in this price range, i'd be open to them as well. i'd like a blade under 4 inches and i currently have a ss Delica and a gerber ez-out that i rotate. an suggestions would be well received.

thanks a lot

how about the sog trident, anyone have anythign to say about it?

and thanks for all the replies guys, i really appreciate them.

I don't think you can find a compression lock folder in the 50-70 range.

Another vote for the spyderco native. Either Native I with s30v steel or Native III with vg10.

Have a look at the Ka-Bar Mule. It's the best bang for the buck folder I've ever owned.

First off, Welcome to Blade Forum. Some of the guys get so excited about giving recommendations and helping folks that they forget their manners! Please forgive 'em, their hearts are in the right place! I actually wore a Gerber EZ-Out down, out, and had to retire it. Replaced it with an original ATS-34 Benchmade 905 Mini Stryker, CE,tanto blade. This one has not let me down yet! Anyway, sit down, get comfortable, strap in, enjoy the ride. Lots and lots of good folks on this forum, Marty

thanks a lot to everyone who has replied, just proves that the people on here are great and helpful. i'll be sure to check out all of your suggestions...if i get anything, i'll get back to you all

Thanks again

I don't know how tough it really is, but I purchased a Benchmade Monochrome for under $40. It is a stainless steel framelock and looks exceptionally wellmade. The blade isn't S30V but the construction looks very impressive, the knife opens smoothly and easily one-handed and locks securely. Take a look at it.

The Cold Steel Voyager line are good knives for the price. CRKT has some pretty good folders in that price range as well. Any of the Budget model Spyderco's or BM's would be good as well. I'm starting to think your just as well of w/ something in this range as opposed to the more expensive stuff. I think a lot the "advantage" is mental.

My suggestion goes to the Native(any), and welcome, Autisclove. :)

My favorite in that size and price range is the Buck 110. Great knife!

They are that.
I bought one as a tough blade to leave in my Rucksack.
Your unlikely to break it but at eight (8) oz it's a bit heavy IMO.

IMHO, you can't get better for the price than the Benchmade 551 Griptilian.

It has replaced folders costing twice as much as my EDC.

Allen.
