Suggestions for a traditional knife with bottle opener

Hey all!

I'm relatively new to traditional/slipjoint knives (currently toting a Northfield Esky Zulu in camel bone, love it). But, my SO and I enjoy homebrew, and therefore have reason to have a bottle opener handy. I figured I would ask the experts for solid recommendations for a traditional knife that also has a bottle opener. I know the immediate recommendation would be a SAK model, but, I'm really looking for something more traditional in bone/wood.

I'm not afraid to put a little bit of money in it, I'd like to keep it under $200 if possible. But, I really want a quality knife that can be an EDC and last for years. Thanks for any suggestions!

GEC Radio Jack or Beer Scout would be my suggestions....as a beer drinking Brit who doesn't have any of this twist off nonsense!

I would second everyone else's recommendation of the GEC models. The only other option I know of that is easily available would be the Trestle Pines Grand Portage. I like mine a lot but there are a few potential production issues with it (see the dedicated thread for details). The cap lifter does a great job though, better than my beer scout.

Seriously, this is the only genuinely effective US made Crown Cork cap lifter I have ever used. The rest have always left something to be desired.

The new, upcoming run of Tidioute Beer Scouts will have a Keg Wood Handle option.

For a FREE to $1.00 cap lifter/mini prybar, Lowes or Home Depot paint department.

The easiest thing to do is wait for the release of the GEC #15 beer scouts. Contact the dealers and you can get on a preorder from some of them.

vintage ones may include camp/utility knives from camillus, remington and look up boy scout knives/ girl scout ones were made also.

here a UMC4 remington often found at the auction site.

You got info about that? I didn't get a beer scout in the last round, still kicking myself. Is there any news of a stainless Beer Scout, that's what I'd been holding out for.

Ive had a few gec's with cap lifters. My all time most used/carried knife with a cap lifter is my sak pioneer but I'll will stay within the parameters of the op

This one is my favorite traditional with lifter and the only one still in my possession

The Beer Scouts are definitely an awesome choice.

If you want something small and extremely pocketable, the Case Jr. Scout is available in a variety of covers.
