Suggestions for a Wharncliffe flipper...?

I kind of like the SOG Access Card 2.0. I know SOGs aren't real popular, but this knife has been very useful when I carry it. It generally just sits on my desk to open envelops, but clearly it can be a very useful blade.

I love my Needs Work and it's a bargain for the price point. It is a little bulky though. How about a Random Task?

check out the Fuel Knives Ignite Flipper.
I believe this may be it!

Oh my...it is amazing. Insingo blade shape+flipper+IKBS makes for a great knife. I like how the handles look but that clip is "ok", I could do without the name on it.

It think it may be "it" however the price is terrifying although I would love to get my hands on one.

The knife itself looks pretty cool and a decent light carry knife. I just am iffy on the QC that SOG has on their knives. Don't seem to be up to par with other brands like Kershaw, Spyderco, even Ontario [Rat 1].

Needs Work is pretty good and fits my preference. I plan to get on soon but I am not sure on how well it feels/performs partly due to bulk. I would like some G10 on it too as I am not sure how good the handles feel on it. The Random Task is good and would be perfect wharny with some G10. If it was a flipper minus the assist/speedsafe.

To those giving suggestions/replying to my thread: Thanks, I really appreciate it. :)

The Access Card that I own is built very well. It is a nice flipper and very thin in the pocket. Excellent steel (VG-10 from Seki Japan). No blade play. Razor sharp out of the box. But I understand the QA/QC comment. Can't change that belief. The price should be an indicator of the quality as it is not a cheap little knife. It is the kind of knife one would carry in an office for general chores. If you were interested in this knife, you would just have to handle it and make your decision at that point.

This thread really got me thinking, so I dug through my collection. I was fairly amazed to see just how few wharncliffe blades that I had. And of those, only one is a flipper.

The knives on the left are all Spydercos, which of course don't MAKE flippers. Top to bottom: D'allara Rescue, Chokwe, P'kal (which really sucks as an EDC), Centofante 4, and Kiwi 3. Of the ones on the right, the top one is a Kershaw Junkyard Dog, which is a nice solid flipper, but more of a modified wharny than a true wharncliffe. It doesn't have as much belly as the average drop point, but it's definately not flat. The next one down is the Kershaw Needs Work, and I love that knife for EDC. The blade is canted upward feom the handle which allows you to grip it and still get the blade almost flat on a surface. The last 2 on the right are wharnys, but they are oddballs. The top is a CRKT Hole In One, and the bottom is a CRKT Van Hoy Snap Lock. These 2 guys have blades that fold into the frames SIDEWAYS.

Of the wharnys that I have, I'd prefer the Kershaw Needs Work or the Spyderco D'allara if I had to choose a real working knife.

Nice collection you got there. I probably will get a Needs Work sometime soon but I think my Brous SSF will have to suffice for now. The Chokwe is one I have eyed for a while, looks like a strange but interesting blade however it looks a little dull-looking

Get a spyderco centefonte 4 if you can afford it. If it is too expensive get a kershaw leek

The Centofonte 4 is a pretty good looking knife but not what I am looking for but may consider it soon. I already have a Leek and I love it except it is too slim for those tougher tasks. I might get the G10 Leek though as it looks a little more sturdy and better for EDC. [subjective]

If you really wanted to, you can de-assist the Needs Work, it does have a detent to hold the blade closed. I've found that it doesn't flip open very well when the spring is taken out though, and needs a bit of an additional wrist flick..
There's also the G10 version if you can find one, if you find that the regular ones are too chunky.
