Suggestions for beautiful EDC?

Hi,

I typically have a Leatherman Wave and a Kershaw Boa on the belt as EDC's, but I'm looking to pick up something more like a gent's folder for special occasions. It doesn't have to be ultra-tough, but I don't want a cheap POS. I love the look of the William Henry T12 spearpoint with MOP handles, but it's out of my price range.

What are some good-looking blades in the $100-$200 range to consider? I tend to like stuff with simple, clean lines.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Chris

William Henry T12-CF Spearpoint - same knife, but with Carbon Fiber handle, Titanium scale and clip! Too obvious a choice. Price on this new is between $165 and $220. Lots of great comments from forum members, and I just received mine last week, and love it!

The Benchmade 771-01, 960, or 690 are three VERY nice-looking folders that sell on-line for under $200.

Good suggestion, but I'm looking for something with a more aesthetically pleasing handle. MOP would be nice, or something in plain SS... I'd like the handle to be lighter in colour rather than darker. Shallow, I know, but I have my share of ugly but effective work knives. I'd like this one to look sexy. :)

I know your top end is $200.00 but if you could squeeze out another $75.00 to $100.00 you could buy a CRK Mnandi. I have one and it is absolutely the quintessential "Gent's" knife, IMNSHO. Give it some thought, you won't be sorry. ;)

My EDC is a T12 Damascus with MOP handle....Simply brilliant, in my HO!

I know your limit is 200, but if you can hold out a bit longer to gather up a few more bucks, the T12 will reward! I learned throughout the years, passively as I watch the elder men in my life, that MOP was the end all be all for scales...I know, this is all personal preference, but the MOP really makes a statement. The sheeples love my knife! And, a T12 is not a small knife...but in MOP, the design is flawless and should last a lifetime.

My .02

Great luck in your decision...

Ditto on Mnandi. But I once got a cousin a stainless Kiwi as a gift and he really loves that knife. He carries it in pocket all the time. Check out AG Russell's site. He often gets knives specially made with nice scale materials on some common production knives and they wind up looking very special.

A.G.Russell does have the Kiwi in special handle materials.

You might like the Spyderco Lum Chinese, which comes in the original green aluminum and in a more subdued blue-gray. This is a really nice knife, with an unusual but clean design.

I second fishwatcher's suggestion of the T12-CF Spearpoint, I don't think you can get any more aesthetically pleasing than William Henry's carbon fiber, it is almost a work of art.

Just my opinion :)

Holy Mackeral Sigifrith, even if I could afford it I could never bring myself to EDC it!

It's a Sunday go to Church knife, he's not gonna EDC it.
I just shot them an email on the knife, if they'll take payments it's mine. :D

Al Mar Hawk, Seki Cut Little Blue or Rhino, Kabar Technocut, maybe you can track down some ltd edition Benchmades

Thanks for all the replies! About that Obenauf... wow. I don't normally like the way Damascus blades look, but that one was beautiful. I'm glad you talked yourself into it, Sigifrith. :)

Boink: Thanks for the AG Russell suggestion. I've been through their website, and I like what I see.

Trouble is, the more I look at the WH T12 spearpoint in MOP, the more I fall in love with it. It looks perfect.

Damn it... I was hoping to be talked into buying something less expensive, but I'll probably get a T12 MOP in the end. Oh well... at least it's less than Sigifrith's. :p

You will not be dissappointed...I never carried a knife before I purchases my T12. One of the subtle characteristics of the T12 is the notch at the base of the blade. I have big hands and found many EDCs too small. The T12, with the notch, allows me to nestle my index finger 'on the blade' increasing the overall hand space of the T12...

Once you feel this advantage, many other knives simply pale in comparison!

Great choice....

that mother of pearl inlayed Kiwi is just beautiful... the black pearl inlay would probly look as nice too, but i don't care for that particular one shown...

if i were to get a gentleman's knife, that pearl inlay Kiwi is "the one"... ha :D

If you just can't afford it, you can always buy a cheaper knife, there's nothing wrong with that. But very few of us end up regretting spending that little bit more for a knife we really want. :D

I prefer the mother of pearl to the black pearl myself. A.G. has had gold pearl that really looks wild. Remember, though, that photography can darken the look of the black pearl. Another picture might show highlights better.

This is a beautiful 'gentleman's folder'. S30V blade, solid titanium body, great colour, solid lock-up, VERY sharp out of the box. Mine arrived just yesterday. Made by Lone Wolf Knives. Available on the www for just over $100.
Yummy!
