I'm using a MAC and wondering what is the best software for designing knives? Any suggestions on which MAC friendly CAD program I should try? Thanks!

Zac, not sure about the CAD for Mac, I used AutoCad when I had a Mac, and still use it on Windows.

You do need a payed membership the post your website instagram and facebook stuff. I'd link you to the rules page, but I believe they have to currently be rebuilt on the new site. Just a heads up before you get in trouble with a Mod or staff. I think you have to have a min of a knifemakers membership to post links to personal websites. This will keep you on the good side of the paying members as well.

I use draftsight on my mac.
I should say, draftsight works well on my mac, I'm just not that good at it. I get better results with pencil and paper.

Depends on what you are looking for, 2D or 3D? AutoCAD for Mac works pretty well but if you're wanting to use 3D get Fusion 360 - works on both and is still free for startups and hobbyists.

I use DraftSight on Mac, but only when I really have to, because I find it intolerably slow and clunky on my 2.26 GHz duo / 8GB RAM / 256 MB graphics.

DraftSight, like AutoCAD, is a poor/mediocre tool for the organic curves most of us are going for. Adobe Illustrator might be the best way to go. You can export to dxf from Illustrator (although everything will be splines).

Working in a CAD program will help you down the line if you're building your own grinder or tools. Alternatively, working in a graphic art program such as Illustrator will help you down the line if you get into web design, t-shirts, or other graphic arts.
