Suggestions for mid-sized survival knife

Check out the Becker BK16. Same build quality and materials as the BK2, but with a 4-3/8" blade and 'only' 0.4 lbs.

I'm also a fan of the ESEE knives. You might be interested in the ESEE 4 or 5.

And, as mentioned, there are some nice handmade / custom knives sold every day in the For Sale by Maker forum section. Might cost a little more than a Becker, but maybe not as much as a Fallkniven.

Ya I thought about the becker bk16 but I don't really want to mess around with stripping the finish off of a knife if i dont have to. I also forgot to mention in my original post that I own the ESEE-4 and ESEE-6 and I am looking for a knife inbetween those too but not a quarter inch thick like the ESEE-5 since it is just a nicer version of the bk2 basically. I also can't really afford a custom knife right now (poor college kid) :(
Any imput on the Tops Brothers of Bushcraft knife?
Thank you for your response!

Why not check out the reissue becker bk10? Similar profile to the bk2, but not as thick.

Maybe some ontario offering like the sp46 may suit you.

Just saw bark river brava 1 at bladehq. falkniven f1, tops b. o. b. knife is 3/16 4.5 inches.

I was actually looking at the Tops B.O.B knife, just I am still unsure if you are supposed to sharpen the knife as if it was convex or scandi grind.

I like highlife's idea about the BK10. I would also suggest the Becker BK15, 16 or 17, I have been trying to decide on the 16 or 17, but the bk17 has really grown on me especially after I saw it stripped.

Plenty of good factory knives for that but you can get a quality custom- probably in your budget.
Contact Bryan Breeden (Sicily02) and discuss what you need. Search around, plenty of pics of his work.
I just got a version of his SERE- a very well though out knife.

+1 on the custom knives, you will be surprised in what you can find in your price range. Resistance is futile! You will spend something and then you join all of us who have the illness, more, more, more....it is just the beginning. I hope you find what you are looking for. One last thought, try to look at the pack horse by blindhorse knives. I know you are a student, but if you can spend just a little more, you will get a good one.

Thanks for the help! I will have to take a look at that one!

Mora Robust, SRK, or Schrade (yeah, Schrade) hollow handle Extreme Survival knife, short version. Surprising killer knives.

I'd look at a Becker bk 17 (or a bk16 depending if you like drop or clip point) I have the 17 and the 2 and it offers a great selection to choose from if I'm going hiking vs camping and batoning firewood.

Ok I take that back I just saw your post about the esee 4 in your collection... Maybe a Becker bk10 would be a good way to go
