Suggestions For Monthly Specials

A very handy and careful person could possibly do texturing with a Dremel tool and pointy grinding bit. Not me.

Makes me wonder if you could fashion something up with two perpendicular sliding tables, one for the knife and one for the dremel, or other grinding tool.

Maybe a smaller, lighter backpacking/hiking knife? Something along the lines of a bluegill with extended handle, but without scales and a compact kydex sheath. 1/8” max. The lack of scales would allow you to save significant time and work, so maybe they could be offered at something in the $100 price range while still being profitable enough for you to do?

Small backpacking knife with no handles...

...ATTA BOY!

I’m not sure if anything was decided? Kind of sounds like nobody is wanting anything. The only thing I see is a bare bones knife. I don’t know how popular it would be.

Agreed that there does not seem to be much of a consensus other than the bare bones knife.

I’m open to quite a few designs.

I thought your take on a PSK and the Hurley Creek designs were both practical at a fair price. It seems that neither really gathered the following they deserve especially the PSK.

I am stil interested in the scaleless knife. Any more thoughts? I know you said there may not be enough interest in some version. I have a HC in 3/16 that I need to get busy using. I just got another chord wrapped knife in the exchange to try also, maybe compare and contrast with the HC. One thing I really like about my HC is the rounded handle. Is it possible to make a small section of the spine of the blade to be sharp for a fero rod? I really would not use that feature but I can see where one may want it for a backpacker knife, thoughts?

I’m still considering it. I could leave a section of the spine sharp

i like the 3/32 of the HC lite, but the practical consideration of 3/32 being more expensive to get than 1/8 01 may play in the overall concept and marketing. I can see where 1/8 may be more desirable if one wants a little bit more strength, along with a slightly longer handle.

Not one of John's designs, but would there be interest in something like the pocket woodcrafter without scales? It's pretty much what I designed the knife for, though it could probably use some adjustments in the handle to get better comfort if it's without scales. The elevated tip helps some get some resistance to sliding off the front, which may be desirable.

I would really like an EDC fixed blade. I have a Lite HC on order. Depending on how it feels in the hand (and the front pocket) I may order a slightly smaller version of that (maybe even a bluegill).

I’m working on a Bluegill right now for you, shouldn’t I be?
