Suggestions for new pocket knife?

What shaped blade do you like? Spyderco's very popular with many knife guys, but others hate the looks of it. It's generally a smallish spoon-sized blade...short, stabby-looking thing with a hole punched in it. Steel's good, though it's never grown on me.

Kershaw packs a lot of bang for the bucks...er...soon to be Ameros, I fear. But some of its blades go all over the place. I liked them enough to buy several, the latest being a Vapor. The AUS6 blade, though, is a little soft. Lots of folks like the Storm and Storm II. The Leek also is a fine knife, especially the one with the Damascus blades. Very reasonably priced for what you get and dang if it ain't a beautiful folder that's good at cutting.

CRKT M21-04

CRKT makes a great knife, the M21-04. It has a broad, strong, spear-point AUS8 blade, smooth, comfortable aluminum grips and an automatic safety (AutoLAWKS). It's a beautiful, all purpose knife that you'll keep forever.

Cold Steel makes a number of very nice folders. The Recon 1 is superb. It and the CRKT ride a bit high if you use the pocket clips. (I carry mine in my back pocket and often in my side pockets without the clip, but if it's an issue, you may want to check them out. Oh, and the Recon 1 has a very nice AUS8 teflon-coated blade that comes in many configurations, all of them SHARP. The Recon 1 is a teeny bit heavy, but it's got a nice axis lock that holds at least 200 lbs. That's a pretty strong lock. (If they ever get a folder that's strong enough to hold Lynn Thompson, I'm going to be the first in line to get one!)

Last but not least, I'd put my money on anything made by Benchmade. They're as solid as a knife can be for their price. I'd like to buy something in black.

Thanks confederate now i have more options I have to explore, hehe.
spx, and glock man, hows the edge retention on the cyclone. I dont know what all steels are so is the stainless its made of a good steel?
Do you guys prefer the mini cyclone or the large one? thanks for all your help.

Benchmade mini Griptilian is a super knife and grows on you. It´s super smooth an go very well in hand.

I know alot of people around here love their leeks, for me personally I hated the blade shape. I think the steel was part of it because the one I have was one of the first leeks that they made, but I would get that blade hair toppin' sharp and they when I went to use it, it cut like butter knife! I think not having a belly in the edge greatly hampered the slicing ability of the knife, so for me it was not very functionable. Also you will have to maintance the A/O, it's really easy but can get innoying in the long run. I want to emphasis these are personal experences and I bring them up just as something to think about. For many people here the leek has been a great knife. Me personally...I'll stick with my Rukus
BTW My vote is for the 710 these are fantastic knives you know for like 20 bucks more you could get a ZT0200, just a thought

I'll recommend a Kershaw Leek if you want something small, and a Kershaw Groove if you want something a little bigger.

Realitycheck, T.K.C. has given the ultimate endorsement.

The edge retietion is great. However, I never let mine get dull, and after a hard workout a few swipes with the Sharpmaker, and they're back to hair shaving sharp. 13C26 is not a supersteel, and that is why they can be found on the evilbay for $ 40 or so. For the price, they're excellent buys.

The Cyclone is about 8 1/4 long, with a 3 1/2 blade. It's a good sized knife. The Mini Cyclone is about 7 1/4, with a 3 blade. My hand span is almost 10 inches, so you can get some idea from the pics.

Both lay very flat in your pocket, and set to tip up, If you're right handed, it's a natural draw...your index finger comes to rest on the flipper as soon as you stick your hand in your pocket.

Enjoy the pics....
