suggestions for "tactical" knife

looking for ideas for a tactical knife with roughly a 3" blade, no more than 4" closed that has a clip that keeps all/most of the handle concealed. Would prefer a slim, lightweight model that is easy to open nut concealment is the priority. Thx.

If 3" is a hard limit, I would suggest a Spyderco Calypso Lightweight or a Benchmade Mel Pardue
350. If you can have a shade over 3", the Spyderco Native or a Spyderco Rookie are good choices.

The Calypso Jr. Lightweight is a super knife, but if you're prepared to call it "tactical" your definition of that word is certainly not mine.

I agree that it's a stretch to call a 3" knife tactical. Unfortunately, I'm in a stuffy, suit & tie environment and a legitimate knife would be a problem. That's the main reason I'd like a clip that sits high and keeps the handle concealed. I know it's wimpy but you do the best you can with what you got.

Heck, if I were in a suit and tie environment (i.e., wear a blazer/sport coat/suit jacket on a daily basis), and no-kidding in the market for a "tactical" (read self-defense) knife, I'd spring for a fixed blade. Maybe the Camillus CQB1 (or whatever it's called), or at least a Benchmade Nimravus Cub. Or the Boker Nealy Specialist. Heck, in an environment where you are actually wearing a coat, your options are greater than mine even, and I come to work every day (in an office environment) with at least a Benchmade Axis 710, a Spyderco Military, a Spyderco Standard (or Native), and some days the Benchmade Nimravus Cub. As far as any of my office mates know, the only knives I carry are the Standard and a Victorinox Executive.
Wonderful things can be done with inside-the-waistband carry and a shirt casually, fashionable bloused loosely around the waist.
Just a few thoughts.

oops, forgot to actually answer your question with a legit suggestion: Spyderco Standard, if you want to stick with the high mounted clip. Any higher mounted, and it would be off the end of the handle. Unfortunately, the blade is only 2 7/8 inches long, but a really nice, useful shape, great grip, good steel (ATS-55). You might want to hurry, though, if you're interested. They are discontinued, so the supply will dry up, maybe soon.
The only other thing I can think of is the EDI Genesis. But, I've heard of a few problems with those...

BRAM over in the tactical forums doesn't carry anything bigger than 3" for defense. I'm not sure I entirely agree, but he's been doing this for a whole heck of a lot longer than me, so I'll have to bow to his wisdom on this one.
That doesn't mean I won't sell my sister to buy a sifu.
Anyone want my sister?
