Suggestions for wharncliffe folders?

Cliff, I had the camera at my friend's house this morning. I took a couple more snaps of the Gravitator, for you :D never let it be said I didn't help out ;)

Looks like I'm going to have to add a Gravitator to the short list, maybe a Case seahorse whittler too.

Another vote for the Gravitator. Here what I posted elsewhere about my impressions:

Which Gravitator? Really intrigued by the Wharncliff blade style. I considered the plain edge, uncoated, model. Does the tapering end of the handle interfere with a good grip?

High Res Version Benchmade Snody Gravitator

I wondered the same thing about the handle but it's fairly comfortable (learned while reprofiling, I swear it seemed harder than S30V) and if anything it aligns the blade at a better angle coming out of your hand. I'm seriously considering getting an actual Snody one. Schweeet.

AND

What's been in my pocket since that night? The Benchmade. The grind was a bit off so I reprofiled it which took me about 2 1/2 hours on my DMT diamond stones. That 154cm blew my mind on how hard it was but now I've got her at 15 degrees per side, with only one or three scratches where I came down on my sharpmaker in the wrong spot (doh) and it'll shave you if you look at it wrong. I don't know what it is but I just really like this one. It's a super solid knife. My only almost complaint about it is they should have rounded some of the corners on the top of the lockside so it wouldn't scrape your hand when you try to put it in your pocket with the knife in it. Now I'm gonna have to find the custom version from Snody. Boy this is an expensive hobby. (I'd add a smiley but the forum says I've got all the pics I'm allowed. Doh Doh)

I've been dismissive and ambivalent towards the Gravitator but after this thread the Gravitator will be added to my list.

Thanks for all the great pics fellas.

Kershaw's original Ken Onion was a wharncliffe called the "Everyday American" or something like that. A very nice knife. All the others-leek,etc. are derivatives of it.
I don't know if they are stilll made but they weren't expensive new a few years ago.

Kershaw had an Onion Minitask with polish g10 over ti linerlock speedsafe. EDC for when a small knife is warranted in slacks.

Also have the big bro of the mini, the random task. Same spec as the mini except for the blade of 440V or S60V.

Onion Centofante, Ronin and YoJimbo come into mind. Got a pic of the Gravitator closed? I want to see how long the tail is WRT the blade. Thanks!

Sure GarageBoy. Anyone looking at this entire thread would think I have a Snody obsession...... :) ...... It's actually a knife photography obsession, to clear up any doubts

You're welcome. I hope it helped.

I had a real fun time dashing out between dark clouds this morning to take the snaps, but as long as you have seen what you wanted to know, all's well !!

Jens Anzo "Rock Lobster" if you want a 4 1/2" blade. It is a custom folder, but hopefully Spyderco will bring the prototype into production. I posted a pick in the Spyderco forum.
