Suggestions on a new knife for my 10 year old.....?

This thread makes me want a son of my own to taking hunting and teach bush crafting but I am almost 18 years old and have to wait for that

I do not want a bussekin, I am looking for a knife that hecan batton, because I believe this to be the safest way for a 10 year old to make his cindling
So the knife has to be full tang, and be able to take a good beating.
The reason I ask in this thread, I that there are people in here with much more experience than me.

So please read my posts to the letter before you answer, but I thank you for all the good suggestions.
They are appreciated.

Maybe a little khuk??...my 7 year old loves his

After going on an anti batonning rant, after being told to pull my horns in by another member ,after re reeading the original post.
I still say use a small axe/tomahawk for kindling.
I know that"look" as well. But if its with a knife you want to teach him how to make kindling I still say mora 511 for price. For a 10 yo.

Thanks meako, but as a carpenter I break too many Moras a year to want my kid to learn battoning with one, LOL...
They are inexpensive, and fantastic knives no doubt about that, but for a bushcrafter, heavy-duty campknife, I want something else, hehe,...

But thanks anyway..

Unless your anti ESEE, the Izula is a nice little knife. You can get it in orange so it will be easy to find if dropped.

Abso0lutely not anti ESEE, I wear my 4 at work every day, and that knife just keep asking for more beatings, LOL

I didn't realize the ESEEs were that expensive. I see full tang scandi customs all the time on the for sale by maker/fixed blades, at or less than the ESEE prices. You might see exactly what you are looking for in there since they are all different. There's usually several new listings every day.

I understand.
how about something from Ontario?
I was looking at the Afghan -bit pricey.
Can't see it breaking though.
cheers.

+1 for the Izula II--got one for my 10 year-old daughter last Christmas. I prefer the 3 or 4 but didn't want her using a choil. She's got a Fallkniven F1 waiting for her in a few years.

The Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter might be okay for a 5 year-old, but it's too small for a 10 year-old.

Its not a Scandy, but the Esee 3 is a great knife. The Condor Bushlore comes in a 'Mini' version. That might do it.
