I'm looking for a gift for an avid hunter- primarily deer and some turkey. Would like to get a knife that will last many years. What are your suggestions?

Buck has lasted not years but generations
But any knife you gift him, no doubt will be a treasured possession.
Good luck on your quest

OP, any idea of a budget range? Based on your other specs, here's a few production knives that I would be interested in checking out myself, already own the Bradford and like it a lot.

* Buck Vanguard (in 420HC, or S30v). If interested in S30v, you can get this special edition at Cabela's.
* Chris Reeve Nyala (https://www.knifecenter.com/item/CR...e-brown-canvas-micarta-handles-leather-sheath)
* Bradford Guardian 4 in M390
I'm thinking in the $200 - $250 range. I like the Fallkniven TK2 in 3G. Any experience with that knife?

Sorry, I've not owned a Fallkniven. They have a pretty good rep around here though, and I like the specs on the one you listed.

I've been pretty happy with my "knives of Alaska" brand.
D2 steel and priced from about $80 for a smaller blade with rubber handles to above $300 (iirc) for a larger blade with stag/bone handles.

Besides Buck, Muela and Nieto are real good looking hunting knives. Most come with leather sheaths.

If I were giving a gift for a hunter/bushcrafter I would check out Fiddleback Forge.
Andy Roy makes some fantastic outdoor blades with handles sculpted like a warm handshake.

I like a fixed blade for hunting: blade of 4” or under, good steel at high rockwell

Suggestions:

Bark River classic drop point hunter or gunny hunter in Elmax, D2, cpm 3V, cpm 4vm about $250 ( i just bought one) 4.8 oz ( some real lookers here) knivesshipfree.com

Benchmade makes a hunt series in S30V, I have the steep country good knife about 100 bucks 4.5 oz

Knives of Alaska suggestion above is a good one in D2, S30V

Kestral S35v at 61 rockwell- very light 2.5 oz or so $225

If you go the Buck route, their cpm S30V stuff is much better than the 420 stuff, IMO

The Becker BK16 makes for an excellent hunting knife.

My favorite "hunting knife" is a cub bear from knives of Alaska. It is a gaping knife and- in my estimation- the perfect knife for processing deer sized game. I own a bunch of more expensive knives. A bunch of more "high end" knives. The cub bear is my favorite for breaking down whitetails.
