What should I wrap this bad boy in to make the handle a bit more comfy?
Anyone ever wrap a handle in one of those "camo tapes"? I was thinking a layer of two of that then some orange paracord, or vice versa; paracord and then camo form tape. Suggestions?

Sweet I can't wait to see how this project turns out! I like the idea of cord wrapped handle. Go Dan!!!

OMG what did you do to that beautiful SAR8?!? Damn I would have traded ya for my G10 version to experiment on!

Oh well it's your knife. Now it's REALLY your knife. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Get some 3M Coban tape and wrap that sucker up - so you did not like to original handles?

Hey its your knife.... Still it had wood handles? To me a pity - but again its yours enjoy it :)

It wasn't stabilized wood. the humidity amd tempature fluctuations in Minnesota during summertime made the handle slabs shrink and grow to the point where every time I picked it up, it was like a different blade. That plus boredom at 3am.

Looks like I have some due diligence to perform. The paracord wrap I tried last night made the handle WAY too fat due to the added thickness along the spine and underside of the handle, so I'll have to try the strider wrap.

P.s. its more beautiful now than ever, all shiny and whatnot. I wouldnt trade either considering mine has a small choil, wich I love the idea of, if there must be a choil that is. If there were some way to make this a choilless blade without grinding the awesome edge I put on it off, I'd be all for it.

If only you could have the Custom shop form up some Res-C slabs milled with diamond quilted pattern (like on my LCABS) ...add some slotted bolts & you've got a rough & tumble, easily serviceable user...

HaHAHA...when I saw those gnarled up pins, the first thing that popped into my mind was what it must've been like to get a tooth pulled back in one of those barber shops back in the Old West

tinfoil - I did not see that your are in MN - cool I am just east of St Paul and can appreciate the ... slight temp and humidity changes of which you speak.

Yes this can cause issues - my guns are largly non wood stock too and/or have floated barrels - for similar reason

Minnesota has two seasons - Too Hot and Too Cold :)

The paracord wrap I tried last night made the handle WAY too fat due to the added thickness along the spine and underside of the handle, so that's out I guess.

If you like Res C handles, maybe try some pieces of similar type rubber that are cut so they do not add thickness to the top/bottom of the handle.

maybe horse stall mat ?
Rubbery and comfy

If para-cord made it too fat for you try pulling the gut stings out of it prior to wrapping. That will make it noticeably thinner. Cant wait to see what you come up with. If I can be of any assistance just let me know.

G10 will be on the list. ;)

Thanks GARTH. Hopefully I won't have to call you. ;)

13uuuuut, since you asked, we could use some group custom shop order pricing on a 13asic 13.....

I would send her in for G10.

Same here!!! Other option is Micarta of coarse. Living here in Alaska I to see conditions that swing all over the place in the summer. You can go from rain or sun at sea level, fly up or crawl up mountains and it freeze at night. TurnerIII hit that one on the nose regarding bang sticks, SYNTHETIC. So again G-10 or Micarta just can't be beat for anything extreme. Res-C should also get a
