Suggestions please.

Hmm I may be too late but I just made a handle out of tortoise kirinite and they are my go to material now. Looks great and its very easy to work with (almost like wood).

Excuse the bad craftsmanship and photoskill I'm still learning! :D

I probably should take another photo because you can't really see the tortoise pattern in this one...

Tim if you do ever get tempted to use kirinite they have some fantastic mother of pearl patterns as well. A company called eagle grips seems to sell grips for 1911s made out of these and they look pretty sweet!

Nice wrap. Just one question...which one of us is colorblind? ;) :D

My cell phone.

Toad: I believe "strider wrap" is what it was called.

RAD: I was holding it and swinging it around and junk last night, and the lanyard gives me the perfect choke back length for chopping when wrapped around my thumb. I'm still undecided however.

The hardware store sells a rubber wrap that is very durable and absorbs shock , I use it on my hammer and it works , that may be worth a look , if interested I can get u the name and maker , otherwise if you're feeling adventurous make your own Micrata , here is an awesome thread on how to ,

I have not made Micrata YET, but I bought all the materials and its on my to do list

Nice work on this. A good tight wrap is hard to do and you did a great job !

Understood, on a knife handle like the SAR 8 which has a very wide pommel you really shouldn't need the extra retention as the shape combined with a firmer grip should be enough. Just one man's opinion but as always YMMV, then there's also the safety aspect of using lanyards. Personally I'd rather have my knife fly away chopping (never happened yet, chances are slim IMO) then swing around randomly and violently dangling from my wrist.

x2, it does seem to be wrapped very tight. I've done enough of these strider wraps by now to know it can really be a major pain getting it tight, not to mention having to rewrap it a number of times if you screw up the pattern/shape somehow.

Someone's a chatty Kathy.... No one was supposed to know I sold Mary Kay..... There goes my blade budget.

(It's actually blaze orange in $#1tty lighting with the same type cell phone camera. Orange. ;) )

Makes sense... Certainly something to think about. I suppose I'd still be able to find it eventually should it fly, orange is a bit tougher to miss.

Thanks guys. I gutted some cord to wrap the handle. It helps the final layer grip the otherwise slippery satin tang.
