Hey guys! Never posted over here. I have been carring a Manix for quite a while now and it has proven to be the BEST folder that I have ever used. I have used and carried everything from Strider to Opinels and the Manix is simply awesome. Okay now for the next part. I became used to carring and using waved knives for quite a while now. So used to them that I don't want to give it up. I did my own wave in the Manix and it turned out to be an excellent mod. I want to upgrade to something a tad lighter and thinner. The Military or paramilitary is an obvious choice and tops my list but the problem is that it is tip down carry only.

Any suggestions? Is it difficult to reattach the clip for tip up carry? Any suggestions on other models?

I require: S30V steel, Tip up carry, lighter, durable, equivilent size to the Manix about.

A pic of the mod just for the heck of it:

I've seen someone mod his Para-Military for tip-up carry. So if you're willing to mod (which you seem to be pretty good at), then I suppose it will work.

The Stretch, although ZDP-189 instead of S30V, seems to fit the description. It has a 4-way clip system, it's lighter than the Manix, and it has a thinner blade (so I would assume it's a thinner knife.) I'm not sure about wave-modding it, though. You could try the zip-tie Wave mod.

If you're into hawkbills, you might also look at the Superhawk.

you might as well go with the best. Get the Military, but forget the 2nd rate S30V and get the top end S90V! :)

Get a Chinook 3. Wieghs 5.5 oz, S30V, and it's about the size of the Manix. Really nice knife!!

Almost forgot about that one. But isn't that heavier and bigger than the Manix? I think he's looking for something about the same size except lighter and thinner.

How about a Mini Manix? Although its blade size is obviously going to be shorter...

Sure seems like there's nothing quite like the Manix, huh? Haha

I have carried tip-up waved knives (Emerson) for a while and have never liked tip down carry until I got a millie. I held out and waited for the S90V millie and paid a little more but IMO well worth it, it took a little bit to get use to tip-down and the thumb hole, but its a more natural motion.

What about an Endura? Waved, or G-10 handle- few choices to decide from.
Nice mod on the Manix. "STR" here on Bladeforums can "mod" your knife also.

Here is what you do. Send it to STR and have him convert it to a FRAMELOCK and put one of his fine low rider clips on it and you will be set for life! GOOD LUCK! Kevin

I suggest the standard waved Endura. VG10 steel is excellent steel, better than 154CM and very comparable to S30V and I doubt you'd notice the difference (don't be fooled by trends and fashions). FRN is very durable with an excellent grip, and the whole package will be much lighter than the Manix.

Excellent job on the mod, by the way.
