Suitability of Cast-Off Antlers For Knife Handles?

antler is a legit handle material- big fan of Scott's^ work, in part due to the handles, (but mostly the lines- so flowy).

I used antler for a handle once. One thing I'd say is scrape as much of the pith as you can. It serves no structural purpose and can harbour pockets of air, which is not as good as no pockets of air in your handle

here's a shed I found:

Yes sir, I am ! It honors my home and always will. 🙏🏼

Beautiful work. I would love someday to watch some of you veterans work. The level of craftsmanship is something I hope I can get to in the future. Long way to go currently.

Thanks Lorien, very nice looking knife and sheath. Be careful making Scagel style knives, making them becomes addicting.lol

I keep all my veg tan scraps with a mind toward making Scagalesque knives with stacked handles some day
